Guest guest
Goat yogurt is definitely more potent/effective than the nut yogurt. The trick to the goat yogurt is that the casein, even though it is broken down some, protects the probiotic strains better so that it reaches the intestines without losing it's benefits. It may lose some but, not half as much as the nut yogurt. I can't tell you whether to add a probiotic now or not but, I can tell you that the probiotics in the nut yogurt helped my daughter's GI to heal enough to tolerate the goat yogurt. I think we were on the nut yogurt for 3 months and started it 3 months after we started SCD. Then, when I introduced the goat yogurt I had to start with 1/8 tsp. SHE BROKE DOWN FROM IT INITIALLY! Not too badly though. I skipped 4 days to start over and gave her 4 drips a day for a week. Then, a day off and 6 drips a day for a week. Then, the weekend off. We had to build up so slowly that K is still not taking more than 1 tablespoon a day. She occassionally has die-off but, we are giving her other probitoics too now per doc request. If I were you, I would not give her the goat yogurt right away. Give it some time AND get a trial size of the DPP-IV enzyme from kirkman's. Use that beforehand and then start with small doses for both the enzyme and goat yogurt. This should help minimize the reaction if any seen with the goat yogurt. Guest guest
There is an article somewhere telling about how the casein protects the probiotic strains til they get to the right place. Anyone have it? Jenn & K Re: JENN & K Question re: nut yogurt > > Thanks!
