Guest guest
Hi Toni, I am not sure what taking pants off may indicate other than a longing for freedom (hee, hee). However, the biting shirt thing is definitely an indication of mineral deficiency. The term is called " pica. " This is when individuals who are deficient in something (most likely minerals and if you are chelating by chance, most likely zinc) seek to satisfy their deficiency by eating non-edible objects (two of my kids had this issue). Have you ever heard stories of pregnant women eating dirt, paper, and such? It's pica. Hope this helps. Jeni Lynn (gastrointestinal problems) SCD 2 months mom to Margeaux, 6 yr. My question is since my son has been feeling " better " he takes his diaper or training pant or his underwear off. Is this a sign of somehting in particular? When he was going thru a die-off he didn't do this. He also bights his shirt alot and Jody (thank you Jody) says it may indicate zinc deficciency. He is not toilet trained. Any suggestions???Thanks to all Toni Mom to Matteo ASD Scd since Oct/05 4 years old For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info<http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/\ > and http://www.pecanbread.com<http://www.pecanbread.com/>
Guest guest
Zinc deficiency is what my daughter's GI doc told us that may be causing her PICA. Which I might add she almost completely recovered from. I do see it once maybe every 2-3 weeks or so. Her favorite thing is toilet paper or tissue. Even though it is not printed/dyes, I don't think it is SCD legal;) We've only been supplementing for about 3 months or so too. Guest guest
Hi Toni, My daughter (almost 4 years old) takes her pants off all the time, has for longer than I can remember. For her the problem is that due to her gut problems, she has a big pot belly. Some pants are uncomfortable because the waistbands are too tight. But even pants with a big enough waistband aren't comfortable for her -- she dislikes even a little pressure on her tummy. Even when she was a tiny baby she didn't like to have her tummy touched, until we started probiotics! And of course the clothes manufacturers don't make " pot belly pants " for three and four year olds -- they expect kids to lose the " toddler tummy " by this age. So for about a year now, I haven't been able to buy her pants that fit at all. At home I let her run around in a shirt and hip-hugger or bikini underpants, unless non-family people are here. Then the rule is that she has to be " all dressed " in a loose-fitting dress or in overalls. When buying overalls, I try them on her to be sure they have enough tummy room. Also, no buttons or other trim on the back/bottom which will dig in when she's in the car seat, and no great big buckles on the straps that will dig in under car seat shoulder straps. The owners of the two local kids' stores know me as " the lady who's always looking for girls' overalls " . Even if your boy doesn't have a big pot belly, discomfort with pressure on his tummy might be the problem. My best advice is try overalls. Guest guest
Thanks for the response, there are always so many questions it's nice to have suggestions. I do think that comfort around the waist is a must to consider,God knows I have never liked anything the least bit tight on my waist.
