I was told that DRH would refund the difference, if any. After about 3 or 4 weeks I started calling DRH to see what my final bill was. They [the " business " office] were very hard to get ahold of and promised to call me back but never did, etc. I finally did get one person that said the total hospital bill from DRH for my surgery was $10,765.00. I asked for an itemized statement and was told that someone else would return my call after the weekend. No one ever called and I was getting concerned. Dr. R had told my wife, Bobsy [not Mopsy], that my surgery was 35 minutes. So I'm thinking to myself: " Self, why was your surgery so much more that everyone else's around the same dates? " I have yet to get an itemized statement which I will desperatley need to fight and appeal with my insurer, United Healthcare[less] (haha, get the pun? Care-less ha ha I crack myself up). BUT: today I looked in my mail [6 weeks post-op] and see something that looks like a check from DRH! I open it up, expecting to see a draft for $245.00 but I was delighted to see a draft for $2400.38!!! I guess that made my hospital bill $8599.62!!! I sure like that a lot better than $10,765.00!!! Now, if you take the $8599.62 that I was charged and subtract the $7687.00 that Trisha was charged you get a difference of $912.62. Now, if you consider my " two extra feet " , it works out to a measly $38.03 per inch of bypass past 6 feet. Now--that is a real bargain!!!! It works for me! Analytically yours, Dr. Bill " Cochise " Ingram in AL mgb06-02-00 393/332 (two more pounds and my scales at home will be " accurate " !)
