Hi all

Im new to the group and have been lurking for the past week or so. My

name is and Im 29 years old from Michigan. I was going to have

the open RNY done here, but when it was put through for insurance

authorization they requested a letter from my PCP and asked if I would

consider having the MGB performed instead and provided me with all the

information. They will even cover travel expenses if I opted for that

procedure. Anything cost saving that insurance suggests I am somewheat

reserved about...lol. However after reviewing the information and

comparing the procedures my PCP and myself have decided that the MGB is

indeed the best way to go. I know several people that have undergone

open RNY and have no complaints other than long recovery times but I

dont know of anyone who has had the MGB but reading all your posts over

the past week have eased my mind considerably. It is frustrating

starting the process all over again but I have submitted my info and

hope to have my packet together to be sent in another week or so, and

besides... Ive been heavy for 29 years, whats another few weeks...lol.
