Guest guest
Kim, I don't see how you could doing any harm to your new baby by eating SCD food. Is there a reason why you can't go ahead and have the SCD dairy? You could always just have the dairy when your kids are asleep. Either the yogurt or the cheese daily... Guest guest
Congratulations Kim!, I'm so happy for you. I wish I could go back and start my children off right by eating SCD during pregnancy. This should be a healthy prenancy diet, because you must increase protein during prenancy, and calcium. And of course SCD allows for that easily. You could take a calcium supplement, if you don't want to use goat yogurt. There are good, healthy, non synthetic prenatals vitamins... check your health food store... you may have to do a little research. Again Congrats!! Not sure how to feel about the pregnancy right now. We weren't planning - I'm still in shock :-o I really need some advice. Will I harm my baby in any way by starting the intro diet, and following a DAIRY FREE SCD?? I was all set to start dairy free SCD, now I have this little nagging doubt in the back of my mind - can I ensure enough calcium for a developing fetus? I would like to avoid taking prenatal vitamins as well as I heard there is a dangerously high amount of iron in these. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated at this time. Guest guest
There are prenatals vits that do NOT have iron. Generally women that get sick (nausea, vomiting) use them when they can not tolerate the ones with iron. I know you can get them by prescription from your OB. I do not know if they are 100% SCD legal. I can't tell you what to do but it were me, I would take them. Also be sure you are getting enough folic acid to prevent birth defects (orange juice is good.) Hope this helps! andrea mother of caden and emmalynn > > Hi Everyone; > > I was all set to start the SCD for our entire family TODAY (day after Easter weekend was my deadline), however this morning I discovered I am pregnant (did one of those home tests). Guest guest
Hi Jody; Well both of my kids (and husband) are intolerant to wheat and dairy. I've heard many DAN docs say you should eat GF/CF throughout pregnancy and while breastfeeding - especially if you have an autistic child already. I'll make sure to get a good calcium supplement and prenatal vitamin w/o iron. Kim :-) Re: Eating for two Kim, I don't see how you could doing any harm to your new baby by eating SCD food.
