Guest guest
My son has been on this diet for a while now (ASD), he is a really good eater but always hungry The problem is as he is getting older - 5 years, he seems to need more and more. He is now not keen on my muffins but will eat them, the school have just sent me a note asking for me to send in more waffles on a lunch time as he is still hungry after his lunch, but i want to add something different to bulk him up as i feel he has enough eggs in his diet. I have yet to make bread that he will eat, it always ends up a disaster and i end up putting it in the sausages to bulk them up. At the moment in an average day he eats yoghurt. honey, 2 pancakes, banana before school- before school Vegtable/lentil soup, 2 waffles, peanut butter, 1 muffin, salad, 2 cookies and fruit at school meat, vegtables or salad, raisins, nuts, fruit x 3, yoghurt - evening He is always looking in the fridge, i have to hide the fruit, nuts etc. Does anyone have any good ideas or a bread recipe that is not on the site that is simple. thanks
Guest guest
Why do you insist on giving him nuts or baked goods, why don't you give him a little more protien, perhaps he is not getting enough and so his body is searching for it > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: needed ideas on extra bulk food >Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2006 19:41:49 -0000 > >My son has been on this diet for a while now (ASD), he is a really >good eater but always hungry The problem is as he is getting older - >5 years, he seems to need more and more. Guest guest
Alison it owuld be advisable to have a more balanced plan with more protein . My 6 yr old will only eat protien if it is cut up in finger food.. May I suggest trying cutting the meat up in different ways (experiment) and when he wants more food you allow the monocarbs but balance it out with protein and veggie etc.....When your child eats all the muffins etc..and is still hungry he will eventually eat the meat and propbably find it to be very good. I know it's difficult and may take a week or so or longer..but eventually the child will eat... I have seen this kind of food selectivity a lot..They do come around and it is more difficult for the parents to wait it out..but maybe give it a whirl...By promoting to the selectivity we are supporting the issue...Good luck.. ;-) > > My son has been on this diet for a while now (ASD), he is a really > good eater but always hungry The problem is as he is getting older - > 5 years, he seems to need more and more. Guest guest
" i do not like putting meat in the soup i send into school for them to heat up, so only send in the veggie soup. " Just a comment on this. If you get a stainless steel Thermos brand Thermos, you will not need for the school to heat his soup up. Hot soup put into a Thermos will still be steaming 4-5 hours later. So, you could heat his soup up (by whatever method you prefer) and put it in a Thermos in the morning and by lunch time, it will still be hot.
