No fear! I never woke up during surgery,I don't remember the tube. I did just

wake up in the OR,POST PROCEDURE : ) It would be like being put to sleep in

the middle of your work area, you'd probably be more aware of your

surroundings than I would be.(since I work in a hospital I was more familiar

w/ the sounds and wonder if that's why I woke up earlier) Plus you have to

know me...I don't stay down anywhere long! I was TOLD to get back in bed at

Durham because I walked so much I didn't get sleep, and went to Jazzercise 4

days post-op. I used to blame my 5 cups a coffee a day on my

hyperactivity, but now that I'm decaf'd and post-op...It's just me. Most

people sleep right through OR and into recovery.

Tubes: I know I was intubated(tube down your throat....and don't anyone get

technical,I know exactly where the tube goes, but it gets confusing if you

don't work in the healthcare field). Absolutely know I did not have a foley

catheter(in the bladder)...there are some things a girl just knows! And if I

had a nasogastric tube, then that surprises the heck out of me. My nose felt

great! The next day my throat was a little sore from being intubated, but I

expected that! Post-op I wore a nasal cannula(2 prong-type oxygen tube ) in

my nose, not painful-just annoying. And my compression boots...very annoying!

The nurse had to chase me down the hall to try to get me to put them on!LOL!

I was only there about 26 hours so I could do anything for that long. Overall

a very pleasant(can you believe that?)process. Best surgery I ever had: )
