Hi Laurel,

Welcome! Nice to know an FP doing this. I see mine on Wednesday. He

is great, already read the manual and is supportive. I don't have a

date yet. Haven't gotten my long online form done. I spent well

over

2 hours on it one day and then my little one was up and I tried to

save it (warning to others - make the time to do it all at once - it

doesn't save!) and lost it all. Haven't gotten back to it yet. I am

hoping for Aug.. I keep hearing the wait isn't that long and see

people move up ocasionally, but Aug is packed with stuff for my

husband. So unless we can squeeze in a 3 or 4 day trip around his

schedule and a clinic, I might have to wait.

I have a question for others while I am on the subject. My PCP is

laid back about mammograms and doesn't think I need one until the

recommended age of 40. Over the phone i told him I thought I would

need one for this for some reason given Dr. R's sample physical and

hisotry form which my doc had in frontof him. His response was that

it was a list of possibly needed tests and it was his opinion that I

didn't need that test to have this surgery. Has that been true for

any of you " younger " post ops (young being a relative term with this

group:))?? Dr. R.?? I just don't want it to hold me up when I am

ready.

Thanks for asking. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Holly,

We had a big discussion on this several weeks ago. I respect others wishes but

I

am with you. I tell others what I have done. I want people to know that they

have a choice and then what they do is up to them. After enlightening a

coworker

and giving her my manual she came back and told me that the more she read the

more she was thinking it was not for her. This woman is very short and I do not

know her wt. she has many health problems including poorly controlled diabetes.

She told me if she was going to have to take 3 vitamins a day for the rest of

her

life she might as well take the medications she is already on. I thought, Oh

well, to each their own. I am very pleased with my decision. It was right for

me.

Hi Laurie,

I was wondering he same thing about the mammogram and the EKG. I'm

35 and haven't seem my PCP yet, but I wondered would she send me for

a mammogram and do I need the EKG? I've had surgery before, the last

time being this past December (laparoscopic gallbladder removal), and

I did fine with being put under. I to am concerned about how long

all these test would take to get scheduled and such because I'm

hoping to have the MGB by the end of August or around the first of

Sept. The sooner the better I say!!!

Laurie, What I did for the online form was print it out, then when

you have the hand written copy to use to type from then fill it out

online and send it in. Then I kept the handwritten copy for

reference. Hope this helps..I also tried to save the darn thing first

time! lol Dinah in Alabama waiting on bcbs!!!

Hi Laurie,

As I understand it, you only need a mammogram if your PCP thinks you need one.

Usually that would only be if you were over 40.

Hi Holly,

I wish I could meet you too. Don't forget the picnic in September and

the cruise in February. I'm turning 50 on the 26th of February so I intend to

celebrate on the cruise even if it is a little early. I don't know why you would

want to meet Trish, she thinks she is a queen or something....ha...ha.....

Actually Trish is a beautiful doll and Flo is a tall gorgeous blonde with the

most wonderful personality. I'm kinda short and fat!!!!!!!! I'll probably be

bald too before long. One of these days we'll be together.

Laurel--

I'm not sure which Dawn you were asking (there are 2 of us)--I'm Dawn

J. I just overnighted my packet to Dr. R. yesterday. I also just

found out the office is closed on Tuesdays for clinic--so much for

overnighting! I'm waiting on insurance approval. My policy does not

have an exclusion, so I'm hoping for a positive response!

Unfortunately, the insurance company can't locate Dr. R's letter, so

I'll have to have it re-faxed tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll know

something from insurance this week!

As far as a date--I'm just hoping and praying early August! I'm so

excited, I'm having LOTS of trouble sleeping.

I hope to be doing the " happy dance " soon--although I'm not sure

about

the honey & syrup thing but, who knows, it might be kinda fun!
