Guest guest
My husband has this problem too. It makes living in the real world a pain in the butt. As you said just going to the grocery store can be a big intense migraine, forget the mall or any event in closed spaces. Some day maybe people will learn that there is a difference in using perfumes and bathing in them. Up heret here are many areas in our local hosptial and Dr's offices that are declared no perfume zones. I have even seen them tell people to leave because of this. It is a shame that no matter how many times you tell people they are making you sick they just don't seem to care. Mike's reactions get so intense at times from this that not only does he end up with a new bout of cluster migraines that lasts for days but it also triggers intense vomiting that can also last for days. It may not be an issue for many who could stand to lose weight by he's 6' and bearly 160 Lbs. 43 years old and he still has a 30 inch waist. There have been times where he has repeatedly told some one your to strong your making me sick and yet they still ignore it. People can be so uncaring, family mostly. We have been married 14 years and I have not worn any perfume or colonge for 14 years. I think if I were to try now it would make me sick, too. Even Cassie will tell her friends you can't come in if you have fufu smell on. It'll make my dad sick. Dear Elaine, In light of our kids being malnourished due to malabsorption problems and GI problems...that cause a starving brain that leads to ASD problems.....this meat is not healthy to say the least! God know where it comes from for starters! Plus, If you do have a gluten allergy if they take it off the bun, it has been contaminated with gluten also. God know, Mc 's puts sugar in everything...it wouldn't surprise me to find out that it is in the meat!...they put it in everything else! No joke, even the salad dressing and French fries!....it could even be in the fruit bags!!!! Go see " Super Size Me " A show HBO put together.... I think you may be able to rent it. It is about how Mc s is slowly killing America! And it is not a joke! Why don't you tell the teacher that the only skills he is going to learn is how to eat unhealthy...and to be " brain washed " by ways that do not promote his returned health...especially since you are trying to help him start his life over with the SCDiet! Suggest that she takes them to a health store, or to a restaurant that promotes whole foods restaurant! NOT FAST FOOD! My goodness gracious, tell her you can not participate in this madness! AT the very least bring a mini cooler to Mc 's with healthy and nutritious choices from home made SCD! Sincerely, with a strong opinion about fast food! Antoinette P.S. Entire family SCD two months/ and healing finally on the whole and nutritious food choices of the SCDiet!, Family problems/Celiac and ASD!...no thanks to FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS either!!!!) mcs Hi, We have only started the diet (on Monday to be exact) but is supposed to be practising 'café skills' with his class. His teacher asked if this would be okay, I said I didn't think so but would check. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. I suppose the fruit bags would be fine? Thanks Elaine

Guest guest
Just to play Devil's Advocate here --- check out the Mc's website (www.mcdonalds.com) and look at the nutrition section. There are detailed lists of ingredients (some of them quite scary -- just look at what's in the supposedly healthy chicken! yech!). The burger patties, however, are labeled at being 100% beef, nothing added. So,might the burger patties alone be OK? They can be ordered without bun, ketchup, etc. I'm not suggesting we all run out to Mc's, but based on this info, might this be a legal choice? Guest guest
I've been wondering the same thing too. I thought we could go there and get a burger patty and the apples (minus the dip of course) for Graham and all eat as a family. It's not really my favorite food but just for the social aspect, I would love the option. a > > Just to play Devil's Advocate here --- check out the Mc's website (www.mcdonalds.com) and look at the nutrition section. Guest guest
I've heard that some hamburger has soy in it, to stretch it and make it cheaper, so this would be a concern with fast food. Guest guest
I think everyone should check out the Slow Food website and see if there are any Slow Food restaurants in your area. I bet they would be open to making food that our kids could eat. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
From my long days of GF - remember the grill they are fried on can leave residues of things on the burger you eat. Sorry to be a kill joy. :-( And after the french fry incident(pre SCD -they've now admitted they aren't gluten free) I don't know that I trust them. :-( Just my two pennies worth. Guest guest
Mc's is one reason I wanted to do SCD. I looked at my son eating chicken nuggets from there and I thought how could you feed your child this! If you watch that movie Super Size you will not eat from there. I went to the Charlotte DAN! conference last year and one of the vendors had a hamburger from there that was six months old to show how it still looked when she bought it. Grill your own for the school and take it that is what we have been doing.
