Guest guest
Hi everyone, My son has only been scd for 7 days. We have tried a few nut free, honey free recipes (nut free bread, cupcakes and pear and chicken cake) He absolutely loved the cupcakes that contained chicken, banana and squash. However I know he will get tired of them quickly. Does anyone else have any recipes that they could share. I have looked on SCDdiet and SCDrecipes without much luck. He is going back to school tomorrow and I am very worried that he is hungry at school as when he is hungry he gets very agitated. Thanks Elaine

Is your school supportive about sending snacks and heating things up? I have sent 2 ripe bananas in every day for the past 2 years so that has something to keep him going, just in case. Avocado is also packed with calories. For lunch (they let him use a microwave) I send a plain hamburger, cut up (and a plastic fork) and some cooked veggies. I also send baked apple chunks, which are good warm or cold. Sometimes I send other cooked fruit or applesauce. Something you might look into is goat cheese; we order online from Mt. Sterling. What about SCD meatloaf, chili, or meatballs? Meatloaf is good cold. BTVC has a meatloaf recipe without nut flour. For something cold, I blended avocado with hardboiled eggs and made an egg- salad-like spread. You could put a chopped crunchy vegetable in it when your child eats raw food. I'm sure other people have even better ideas. Good luck, , mom to
Guest guest
hi i have a very hungry 8 year old, and we are in stage 1, i make the chicken tots using the recipe on the pecanbread web site, i also make burgers out of turkey/pork/lamb mince using 500g of meat to 1/2 cup of cooked veggies and fry gently, i also make sausages from chicken, mince it up, add veggies on same principle as above and grill, i make cottage pie with carrots, zuchinni, pears, apples and green beans all steamed, blended together and used as a topping, i simmer the mince then add in an egg to act as a thickener - you can use gelatine in the same way, and he takes this is his lunchbox, i also send him in a thermos flask of soup to have at snack times. Oxtail soup was a chance design and he loved it, again made with 1 apple, 3 pears, 4 carrots, 3 zuchinni and a handful of green beans as our soup base. if you up to squash level, then add in whats appropriate for your son, this is just how we manage right now but stools are perfect now so well be adding in some squash next thursday - allowing a few days for healing. hth emma kai pdd fian 2 saved from adhd diagnosis by yeast clearence, scd 2ndx around scd 6 days and doing brilliantly > > Hi everyone, > > My son has only been scd for 7 days. Guest guest
hi its just very simple at the moment as we are only stage 1, i buy 4 pieces of oxtail, i dont take the meat off until right at the end as there is so much goodness from the bones, i add in 1/2 apples, 3/4 pears. 4/6 carrots, 2/4 zuchinni, 50g/150g of green beans, sea salt, some herbs to taste, bring to boil and gently simmer for a couple of hours, by then the meat is falling off the bone, so i remove what i can and put to one side, i then blend all the vegetables together, then put back in the meat, my boys really enjoy it, - the fruit really gives it some thing and its just another great way to hide that sort of thing as oxtail flavour can be quite strong. hth emma > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > My son has only been scd for 7 days. Guest guest
Thanks, The school will not reheat for me. I am planning on going to the school every lunch time over the next few weeks to take hot food. Guest guest
Have I added squash in too early? I thought it was one of the more tolerated veggies. The only veg he is on are cooked carrots, zucchini and butternut squash and the only fruit so far poached pears and ripe banana. Guest guest
When I was growing up and on a special diet or having trouble eating for one reason or another my mom would pick me up for lunch and we would go have a picnic. This was a really special time for us. It took the pressure off of me, gave me a hot meal and was a bonding experience for us. To this day she is my best friend. Your son is lucky to have you > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: <pecanbread > >Subject: RE: Re: help with recipes please >Date: Sun, 23 Apr 2006 12:36:44 +0100 > >Thanks, > >The school will not reheat for me. Guest guest
wow, thats so good, my boys school refuse point blank to have anything to do with the diet, wont even let him bake scd goods in cookery, he has to bake stuff that he cant eat, if i could drive id do the same, but we manage with thermos flasks and insulated sandwisck boxes :-) emma > > When I was growing up and on a special diet or having trouble eating for one > reason or another my mom would pick me up for lunch and we would go have a > picnic.
