A short fast, however, is universally accepted, I believe. Guest guest
I have been reading the posts about over-eating after surgery and wanted to say that even as a pre-op, I have fasted up to two months with not one bite of solid food. I drank fruit and vegatable juices and lots of water. I have done short, one week fasts since my teen years in an effort to control my weight and clean out my body. A few years ago, I ordered some books on fasting and found out that you can juice fast for months and months with no harmful effects. While fasting you are not supposed to take any medications that may stress the liver. For those of you who are afraid,, as was I, of long-term fasting, just get a book on the subject and it should ease your mind. There is also a lot of information online on this subject. Most of the info that you will find does not pertain to Bariatric patients, but it really eased my mind to know that you don't die from fasting when done correctly and medically supervised.
