Guest guest
Dearest Gwen, Many things can cause intestinal damage, not just gluten. I have no idea why they have not realized this yet. Thank God Elaine and S.V. Haas did! This biopsy " Gold standard " even has its problems. You see an Endoscope does not check the Ileum( can't reach it)....this is where Elaine and S.V.Hass say that most of the damage occurs...plus the intestines are the surface area of a tennis court and the biopsy is just a pin point! YOU CAN BE MISSED WITH THIS TEST TOO. So much for it being the " Gold standard " . BTVC celiac story says more about people being missed. Our pediatrician said it would be " child abuse " to put our kids back on gluten for a month for this test/gold standard. She said if a child has asd, adhd, add and the symptoms of the child look like celiac....then that is what it is. " if it is not a horse...it's not a zebra...then it's a yak! " She thinks the celiac panel and the gold standard are horrible tests...to many ways a person can be missed! She almost saw it happen to us! You see before this " gluten " obsession in the 60's , celiac included ALL MALABSORPTION problems! This is why so many people are sadly being missed. More than you could believe. I think it is an outrage..... in light of my family almost being missed. My husband and I may had been confirmed as having damaged intestines through biopsy.....but guess what...what good was it (cost a lot of money too!)....we stayed sick with their prescription of gluten free...so many...too many stay sick! Please reread the celiac story in BTVC...it tells you everything...now that you know what I have told you it will make more since. Also ....the genetic tests are not good either....my daughter KiKi who was the sickest...came back not having the markers! GO FIGURE...it is not just the GLUTEN! Best thing is to do to " confirm " you have malabsorption problems (not just classical celiac/gluten variety) is to do a trial diet of SCD for a month....if you feel better stick with it! Hope this helps explain what we have learned, Antoinette (entire family SCD 2 mo/celiac asd) Re: Re:ENTERO LABS/ SCD, starting point for healing re: 's response to GERD/REFLUX/btvc reread! Thanks for this Antoinette. I had wondered about his findings and something told me that the lab tests would say that we were gluten intolerant. I'm glad that I waited. As I do more research and reading into what celiac and gluten intolerance is, I know that the only way to find out if it is truly celiac is to the darn biopsy! I'm also glad that I started with the knowledge behind SCD because it helps immensely when trying to sort out the other info I find. I plan to use Great Smokies, now Genova, for our initial testing but don't know where we will go from there. I really like to rule out Celiac but am ambivalent about the test for my son. Perhaps my husband and I could get the biopsies and then if we have it, have son testing for the genetic predisposition via blood sample. The Doc I'm reading now, really warns against trying a gluten free diet as a way to see if we have celiac. i can see his reasoning. We might just be gluten intolerant and be able to heal on SCD and with enzymes but if we have Celiac we will be on the diet forever and enzymes will only help with other issues like lactose inolerance not celiac.
