I thought a processor would help save some time while chopping nuts,

shredding, mixing, etc. What size and what features do you like best?

A food processor will definitely be useful on SCD.

I would buy the best one that you can afford. We've been through

several " cheap " ones. It's not been the motors that have gone out,

but it's the bowls and blades that don't hold up.

I've heard fabulous things about VitaMix. If you can afford one, I

think it's probably the best based on it's features.

I would caution against the ones that are sold at WalMart/K-Mart

because they seem to be the type for the " average " cook, meaning that

they spend most of the time in a cabinet not being used. On SCD, our

food processors get a major workout. I used mine daily and sometimes

more before my last one broke.

Is the Vitamix a blender or processor?? I looked at them and they

just look like a fancy blender. Am I missing something?

It does a lot more than a blender. It's like a combination of a

blender/food processor.

It can grind nuts, even almonds into a really nice flour.

Like I said, I don't own one, but I know people who absolutely love

theirs.

I have a vitamix and do not like it. I think they are hard to

really clean, you can not process very much at a time, mine is tall

and awkward.....

I have a cuisinart food processor and I do like it for doing nuts.

I bought one of the upper ones, 14 cup etc. I have been disapointed

in it does not mix very big batch of cookie or bread mix. I have a

Bamix hand blender that I use for most of my mixing.
