Summer,

Do you soak nuts before grinding them into nut flour? Or do you soak nuts only

before

making nut butter? Or when?

Do you roast the nuts afterwards then?

> Elaine said it was not necessary to soak nuts prior to using, but many ASD

folk find it

necessary so they may have them in their diet at all. Soaking them with a bit of

salt will

help, will help the beans as well. These are just things that make SCD effective

for some of

us of the ASD family. My oldest son is recovering from autism, and my youngest,

from

ASD. Refer to my post I just made about a non-reaction to buying raw goats milk

I

pasturize myself compared to slight reaction from using store bought. These are

some the

big issues facing this specific community, in different shapes and forms.

> Yes, I soak all nuts, despite the culinary use afterwards. I soak them for

at least 24 hours

in salted water. I then rinse them very well, they are usually starting to bud

by this time. I do

a quick towel down with a clean cloth, and set them in a pizza pan in the oven

on the warm

or lowest setting, to dry. I occasionally check them, shake them up a bit. Then,

after drying,

they are ready for grinding, or buttering, roasting, baking, what have you.

not having

almonds in our diet.
