Guest guest
Hi again - Amy and Mason (3.5 yr ASD) checking in after 26 hours SCD. Things are going good so far - Mason surprised me yesterday by eating half of a " chicken pancake " and a few bites of cooked carrots for lunch. I was able to hide some ground chicken and carrots into his scrambled eggs for dinner. Today he wants no part of any food what-so-ever and said " bye! " when he got to the table and saw his breakfast plate. He is very irratible today, clingy and whiney - I guess this is to be expected - correct? Does die-off start to happen this fast? Again, we've been doing this since yesterday morning. I gave him an epsom salt bath last night, but he refuses the activated charcoal. Any creative ideas on how to get that in him would be helpful - he won't swallow capsules. Another thing (go figure) is that he did not have a BM at all yesterday? He had six very mushy/watery ones the day before but nothing yesterday - he's urinating and is staying hydrated, but no poops so far! Is that normal? I guess that's about it - hope you guys don't mind my rambling and journaling of the " what's up " around here. Off to put on a pot of soup... Guest guest
yes die off can happen fast. and yes, this time restarting the intro part of the diet i was constipated for 3 days. not normal for me at all! it may be that he doesn't want to eat because his tummy hurts. in light of the honey discussion i fear to tell you my approach to the charcoal - i mix it with a little honey - not much, but it works. we have really cut way back on the honey this time and i definetly think we are getting more die off, but she really needs the charcoal sometimes. good luck and keep at it, the first couple of days can be difficult. Guest guest
amy, perhaps a drugist would help with getting activated charcoal dosing ideas. i wanted to share my experience with my one son who tended to have a loose stool or diarhea prior to SCD and still does when he is having a reacion to a new food. typically when he has had a day of diarhea or loose stool and he is better, he often will have a day with no stool. i think the loose stool tends toward to complete emptying and then this must be followed by the intestines beginning to work and they need time to form the next bm. so after diarhea a skipped day in our house would be good news. whereas for my son who tends more toward constipation a skipped day would not necessarily be a good sign. donna > > > Today he wants no part of any food > what-so-ever and said " bye! Guest guest
Colby, Honey is a healthful food, and the honey discussion does not apply to everyone here on SCD. There is nothing wrong with mixing your charcoal with a little honey. *sings* A Spoonful of Honey Makes The Medicene Go Down, The Medicene Go Doww-nnn, The Medicen Go D-O-W-N Dear Amy and Mason, Welcome! Yes, this sounds typical for beginning diet. There can be a mish mash of behavoiral, physical and emotional changes that happen during die off. The body is under stress. Good luck with the cleansing!
