Hi everyone,

Okay here it is: My husband thinks that I have become obsessed with

having the surgery. He told me to stop putting my life on hold,

because I keep saying " maybe after I have the surgery and get skinny

then I'll do this or that or go here or there " . But what he doesn't

seem to grasp is that I feel like my life has always been on hold.

There are so many things that I have always wanted to do but held

back because of being overweight. How many fat tap dancers do you

know? But you see, I have always desired to take tap dancing

lessons. And I don't care how ridiculous it sounds, when I lose

enough weight that I can do it (leotard and all), I'm taking

lessons. Me 5'9 " with all those little kids in class. But seriously

they must have classed for adult beginners, you think? So the

question is do you just stop talking about it and secretly daydream

about being " that girl " instead of " fat girl " . Or...do you continue

to drive hubby crazy going on and on about the MGB. P/S, he also

thinks I'm spending way too much time on the PC reading all the

messages at this site. So am I obsessed? Do I need a support group

for people obsessed with having the MGB? Hopefully, I'll soon need to

join a group for people obsessed with buying new clothes...get my

drift?

Love to all,

Ranee

When I read the sentence where he said " stop putting my life on hold, " I

was already saying, " I kept my WHOLE life on hold until I would lose

weight, " meaning, there was NO possibility of ever getting off " hold "

until this surgery! So the surgery, instead of putting me on hold, was

the first thing that offered a chance of getting off hold. And then,

that's exactly what you said right after that, so AMEN to that, sis!

LOL! Maybe, but more likely, you've just found a bunch of people JUST

LIKE YOU for the first time in your life . . . isn't it fantastic?

I'm wearing size 20 shorts today that I wore 2 years ago. I was wearing

them before surgery (when I had bought clothes at size 24-26) and they

were SOOOOOO tight. They have an elastic waist and before surgery, the

waist was stretched to the max, there was nothing loose, anywhere.

The same shorts are now loose all over, 3-4 inches I can pinch on the

legs of them are free, and when I am sitting down with my stomach

relaxed, I can *still* pull the elastic waist out about 6-8 inches. Now

that's progress! I think I *might* be able to get into an 18 but I'm

not going to try until I lose another 20 pounds.

Hey, this slow weight loss part has not been fun, but I'm getting used

to it. I am losing, but very very slowly. As one person characterized

it rather aptly, " Yeah, like on a sh*tty diet . . . " I have to agree.

But it's a lot better than gaining!!!! And on this point, I am

definitely the exception, not the rule. Other people who had surgery

two weeks after me have zoomed past me on the weight loss.

>I am happy to here you are doing great!

Well, it is truly weird, because I am well below even the lowest end of

the expected weight loss (see Dr. R's neato-keen new page on this:

http://www.clos.net/predict-wt-loss.htm ) but I've lost a *lot* of

inches.

I've lost 4.5 inches just on one *arm.* I've lost 4 inches on my waist,

I've lost 4 inches on my hips. I don't know how much I've lost in my

bust because I didn't measure it beforehand, but it's gone down 4 inches

from my previous bra size (44 to a 40 and it's in the 3rd hook, not the

1st) and a full cup size (from C to B), so it's going down, and hey, so

far so good, they're not looking like a couple of tube socks with

baseballs in the ends yet!!

Dr. R. suggested that I up my calorie intake and my exercise, so I'm

doing that. Upping my calorie intake occurred just prior to the one big

loss of six pounds I had last week, so I hope it keeps up and I will eat

more.

I lost 11 pounds of waterweight the week of surgery, nothing the next

week, then 2 pounds a week pretty much after that for 8 weeks, then, the

week I ate more (up around 800-1000 calories a day with one 1250 day), I

lost 6 pounds. Then I didn't lose anything the next week, but as soon

as I upped my calories, I lost 2 pounds in two days. So I'm going out

for pizza tonight. :)

> Doesn't it feel so good when that happens with the clothes!

Yes!!! I didn't have any summer clothes that fit at all, so all my

t-shirts and shorts were too tight. They all fit nice and loose now so

that has been a big help in this scorching heat. Alabama has had

temperatures in the high 90's this year since about the end of April.

We had a long drought, no rain for 3 months, and we've still had very

little rain in the past month, so when it does rain, all it does is

shoot the humidity up to 100% along with the heat. BLECH!!!! So, yes,

me and my one-window-airconditioned office are very glad I have some

loose shorts and t-shirts!!!

Thanks, hope to meet you, too! I'm hoping to be in Durham for the

told Judi that we were going out to get a 1/4 cup of soup one night
