Guest guest
Dear Tom, Try Barlene's flax seed oil and Nordic Natural's (mercury free!) Cod Liver Oil Capsules an adult can take five safely, it works wonders for constipation and hard stools. Assuming this is why your doctor insists upon medimucil. I put the flax seed oil in my salad dressings and on top of some foods to get it down. Some mix it in scd yogurt smoothies. Often times it is not a fiber problem it is a undiagnosed essential fatty acid deficiency that makes our poop so hard and painful! This worked for us...a miracle! Before Medimucil like products did not work well for us (our doctors prescribed them for us too)! Most Americans do not get enough good fats in their diet...you may be one of us! These supplements will help! SCD alone will solve this problem if you stick with it with fanatical adherence. If you can tolerate the more fibrous foods eat them. Such as raw apples, asparagus and such. Don't be tempted to take anything ilegal, just because your doctor who did not study the scientific dynamics around SCD insists upon it. Beware of this advice. Trust that your problems will vanish with SCD. So many have gotten better this way! What is your diagnosis if you don't mind telling us. This might help us to help you better. How long on SCD too??? Hang in there we are here for you! Sincerely, Hope this helps Antoinette (entire family of five SCD/ 2 mo and all diarrhea and constipation problems gone! YEAH...we poop normal now! Family list of problems: celiac, colitis, Ibs, colic, malabsorption, asd and more...finally healing) a.. Visit your group " pecanbread<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread> " on the web. b.. Guest guest
thanks , yeah I've been on SCD over 3 years now, and can tollerate all those foods now except for pectin (the skins of grapes, and other fruits) but otherwise I can yeah. yet, my stools have been extremely hard to pass over the last year. The reason my doc wants me to take medimucil, is because I just had rectal surgery, anal Fistula surgery, and he doesn't want the stitches to tear with a hard bowell movement. The paper he gave me actually says 'no flax seed oil' so I don't know what he expects me to do. but its to keep the stools soft so the stitches don't tear, so the plug they put in stays in place, otherwise a hard bowell movement, even semi-hard, can easily rip the stitches making the surgery not work, so its really important that I find something that keeps my stools soft... I eat fruits and vegetables everyday, in fact the doc said that bananas are constipating, which would probably explain alot seeing as how I normally eat like 2-3 bananas a day, so I may have to limit those for awhile, but otherwise I have no clue how to keep my stools soft, they've always been hard takes me sometimes 2-3 days to even have a BM, and once I do, its like it all comes out in one big clumb like that (shrugs) and I can't have that after surgery like this Tom > > Dear Tom, > > Try Barlene's flax seed oil and Nordic Natural's (mercury free!)
