My DAN says it is not yeast die off and I believe him because has over 20yrs of clinical experience with yeast. I am removing the honey. Guest guest
My son right now changed with SCD. Lately, he is not very responsive. Is this what you are calling spacey??? But then again, I just finished DMSA transdermal for three days. Guest guest
Tara, We have been doing SCD for almost 4 months and I have not used any honey and my son seems to like the cakes. I use different fruits and veggies to make the bread. Pam Matt 3 ASD (SCD 3 months) Honey and SCD > Just talked to my DAN doctor and he suggests that I remove all honey from my sons diet. Guest guest
Tara, If you just switched to SCD last week, it is too soon for baked goods anyway. I would recommend that you start again with the intro diet. Add foods slowly, keeping a food log. That will help you pinpoint what the problem is. Also, there will be very little honey at the beginning of the diet when you start this way. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/

Guest guest
Hi , I got the recipe from this list on 13th March. It is as follows 1 cup finely ground chicken (cooked) 1 pureed medium banana 1/2 cup butternut squash (cooked) 1 egg 1/2 tsp baking powder Mix well (food processor) and put in muffin pan with liners. Bake at 320 for 20-25 min I haven't tried this yet Elaine Re: Honey and SCD > > Tara, > > If you just switched to SCD last week, it is too soon for baked goods > anyway. > > I would recommend that you start again with the intro diet. Guest guest
Thank you, that's great. How do you think it might work without hte egg? I have to avoid all eggs (daughter actually). Guest guest
I just use the recipes from http://pecanbread.com/recipes.html and leave out the hone. It works for my son. With the cakes I add sweet fruit like pears, apples or acorn squash, and carrots. Guest guest
" Jody, I was going to make the nut free cup cakes with chicken and butternut squash is it too early for that too? " No. That would be fine. Any of the recipes for pancakes and muffins/cupcakes that don't have nuts in them will be fine. Guest guest
" According to my DAN he spoke at length with Elaine on a few occasions about the honey. My Dan also provides his clients with an SCD sheet and it warns us about the honey. He is just passing on his 25 years of clinical experience working with yeast. " I don't doubt that he spoke with her, but I doubt that she changed her mind about it. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
just to add a litle bit more - NCMcBride said in her book that honey should be avoided in the early stages as it can aggravate candida if the digestion is very weak, however, she did said me an email after a consultation when i questioned the use of manuka and she said that was fine at any stage because the benefits of using manuka far outweighed any issue of it aggravating yeast. elaine did mention also that if yeast was a huge problem then to try using only 1/3 of rec amount in recipies in early stages again due to weak digestion issues. there are schools of thought that think scd can have no effect on yeast as it is too sweet ie honey fruit etc, but there is another school of thought that points out yeast can only survive if there are high levels of other 'bad' bacteria, ie the toxins produced give yeast a more favourable environment to proliferate, take those out yeast doesnt stand much of a chance one things for sure, when my boys are anormal diet, they have sickness, and slimy yeasty frothy stools, on scd even with honey, they dont - (bananas seem to cause far more problems???) anyway i digress elaine said its in a biofilm even if some do get through due to a weak digestion yeast cant get to it anyway, and it made no sense depriving the body of something thats just so goood for you, we use manuka 18+ for everything, colds, cuts bruises etc i swear by it. in response to the phenol issue - it does have phenols in it as these act as some of the antiseptic properties i believe - i may be misquoting there hth emma > > I'm wondering if what people are seeing as yeast from the honey could be > something else. Guest guest
You can read more about manuka at http://www.manukahoneyusa.com/ I use it to mix my son's olive leaf extract and acidophilus (separate times of course) each day since he can't swallow pills yet. It's expensive to cook with a lot ($25 per jar) but has so many supposed health benefits we use it for the supps. & cook with cheaper honey.
