Hi. I stumbled into Dr. R's web site a couple of days ago when I started to

research WLS. I started with Carnie 's story and it blossomed from

there.

My questions is how did " ya'll " decide to have the surgery? I have been

severely overweight most of my life. Like many of you I have been on every

diet out there, and lost, and regained plus some. I guess for me the biggest

question is, will I be able to handle the emotions of finally being thin?

Although being at goal weight has long been a dream, I could always back off

on diets if it got too scary. I don't think I have that option with WLS. I

have been going to a therapist weekly for about 5-6 years, so I have her to

help me through this (haven't had a chance to let her know that I'm thinking

about WLS). I'm just wondering how each of you handled this issue. I know

that intellectually I can handle everything about the surgery and its

consequences. I don't know about the emotions.
