Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just wanted to express how nervous I am right now about getting everything ready for sending in my packet this week. I have my letter, my Dr letter, my cardiologist letter, my Ob-GYN report my pap and mammogram report my EKG but it is from a month ago. I had read somewhere that the EKG had to be within a year, but now I read on the posts it has to be not more than 30 days old. Should I get another one or just have a new one at the hospital. I have my Lab order for the blood work but haven't done it yet because I don't want it to be too old. Someone posted that I could just bring them with me but others say they must be in my packet, I am nervous and confused!!! I looked At Dr. R's site again today and my physical and history from my Pcp doesn't appear to me to be as through as the sample one. My PCP mainly went over my history and health problems in her letter to Dr. Rutledge and despite my telling her clearly to give me the letter she had her office send it to Dr. R's office. I had to go get a copy for my packet. My PCP is now out on maternity leave so she can't be reached, but I am thinking of going to her NP so she can fill out a more complete physical and history. Do you think that is necessary? This lack of sleep is starting to get to me and my time spent on the computer is growing everyday. I sit here now just feeling weepy. I have read other peoples bad day stuff so I guess it's my turn today. Sorry! Usually happy Marjory

Guest guest
Hi Marjory, It sounds like you are doing fine. Don't worry. You do have to have a copy of blood work and an EKG that are not more than 30 days old for the hospital (the anesthesiologist wants it) when you get there. If you don't have those, then they will do them there. Some people just let the hospital do that. The only worry with that would be that if something was wrong, you wouldn't know until that day, and you might not be able to have the surgery then. You can just bring those results with you when you go for surgery if you have had the tests already, and within 30 days. If there is also a copy in the packet, that's fine, but I don't think that is required, unless it is needed to show you are fit to have surgery. My history and physical were not in any easily discernible form. It wasn't anything like the form on the web site. I just had the records and test results from my latest doctor's visit (along with my other medical records), and my doctor wrote probably the shortest letter anyone has ever had from their doctor for their packet. It listed my four major co-morbidities, had one sentence saying that he thought surgery was indicated, and then one sentence that he hand wrote in because I said he had to say something about following up with me after. That little sentence just said he would be happy to follow me after surgery and do any necessary tests. I was really worried that that small letter wouldn't be good enough, but my packet was approved with no problem. There was no formally written history or physical results, although test results and diagnosis forms were included. So I think you will be fine with what you have. I understand all the worries. I have been almost in a panic from day one worrying that everything might not work out. I am still worrying because I don't have my insurance approval letter in my hand yet, although they have called me and Dr. R's office to tell them I was approved. I will probably worry that everything will not work out until I am on the operating table. But maybe that will keep me from worrying about the actual surgery so much ! Hang in there! Guest guest
Dear Sara, thank you so much, that put my mind at ease, because my Pcp did write a pretty long letter with some of my history all my co morbidities and I have all my test results. I also have a letter from the cardiologist and records of my yearly GYN checkup. I think I am all right but I remember a couple of months ago someone posting that they were turned down because they forgot to sign their letter, that put the fear in me. I remember you worrying about that hand written part of your letter. I have been lurking for months but just started to feel like part of the group and expressing myself. Thanks Again Marjory
