No, never tried Candex. At the time we where using CANDASE from

Enzymetica (it does have protease in it, just like most if not all of

their product line). I wish I had known what Elaine feared about this

enzyme before ginving it to KiKI...but by gones be by gones...we are

on track now. She truly went into a diarrheal crises for a bit. Good

thing I am on top of things, and talked to those who knew what I was

doing wrong with this very vulnerable little tyke.

At the time I thought CANDEX and CANDASE where one and the same just

different suppliers/makers. Boy was I mistaken.

I was just told off serve that Candex containes: cellulase and

amylase, enzymes which work on plant and yeast cell walls and sugars.

Sounds harmless to a vulnerable an injured healing gut to me.

Jody, or whoever, do you know for certain that it has no protease in

it? We may try this Candex. Could be very benificial with the war of

the yeastie beastie's.

Antoinette (2+ months SCD/ mother of 2 year old KiKi/recovering from

ceiac/injured intestines and autism as a result to it)

Die off from any enzymes can cause cramping and pain, burning and distress.

Before adding additional antifungal stuff, I would tweak your diet, get it

optimal. You want to cut down on feeding and killing at the same time, and also

get a footing on healing. Antifungal therapies are best taken on an empty

stomach and alternated.

I know that it is SCD safe though. If it has nothing that will harm

an already injured gut, we may want to try this. Can somebody tell me

what in it. ANd if others who have used this had any burning,

distress, cramping and PAIN???

We may want to try!

Sincerely, Antoinette

I agree about the cramping and pain being related to die off...we

have had that experience with just the strict SCDiet in the

beginning, cutting out any yeast feeding foods for almost 10 days.

Die off was not fun.

But the intense burning and celiac crises of diarrhea did not start

untill the experiment with protease containing enzyems. At the time

I talked to Lucy R ( Lucy's Kitchen) about this concern that Elaine

had with protease. (she has agreed to let me use her name on this

serve).

I even personaly and by phone shared my concern with Devin Houston,

who agreed that we should not do the protease untill we heal, since

he too now knows our origional psychical condition of having

errosive colitis and celiac damage. Our EGD and biopsy showed my

intestines to be just a mess. I am very lucky to be alive. This

disease killed my mother.

If we show a need in the future, we will use protease once we heal.

Doese anybody know for certain what is in Candex? Is it protease

free...like a person told me off serve? I think we will try it.

Hope this give better clairity, Antoinette

A version advertised in Europe does have protease, but the same

country makes a version sold in the US, and in some places in Europe,

without protease. Check the label, but the most common version you see

in the US and online does not have the proteases or lipases...just

carb digesting enzymes. Here is a link to the one I think you are

wanting:
