Guest guest
Tara, If your child has a true casein allergy- IgE allergy, then I would caution trying goat milk products. The correspondence between true cow's milk allergy and true goat's milk allergy is very high. But it is not 100%. Meaning that most people who are truly allergic to cow's milk are also truly allergic o goat's milk. But not all. If you are referring to the issue with the casein that is suspected with many ASD kids that is NOT a true allergy... Goat's milk protein has a different structure than cow's milk protein. It is closer in structure to human milk. I have not seen that it has the same " opiate-like " effect on my son. So, for our family, I had one child who was truly allergic to cow's milk and one child who seemed to have the opiate-like response to cow's milk. Both of them did well on goat's milk products. This may not be the case in every situation, but it was the case in our family. As for where to get a yogurt maker, you should be able to get one from Yogourmet, which I thought was a Canadian company. For cow's milk free yogurt starter, go to http://www.giprohealth.com . There is a pharmacy in Canada that is importing it and you can get it from there. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
Tara, go to the lyo-san website.(google it) i don't know it off-hand but it sells yogurtmet yogurt makers and starter (cow based). They are in Quebec and you can order over the phone. i do it all the time. They will answer the phone in French, just speak english and they will switch. Charlene I am interested in getting some feedback from parents who have autistic kids and casein allergies and are using the goat yoghurt. Do you recommend trying it? Is it worth the risk of regressions? What starter culture and yogurt machine do you recommend? As well, I live in Ontario and I cannot seem to find a yoghurt maker. I tried many stores, any suggestions. I will order from the internet if need be. Thank You Tara
