Guest guest
Just glanced over the messages--YES, let them label them at their worst in order to get the most services. It stinks, but that's the way to get the most services--and the schools have to label it that way in their paperwork to get the funding. And make no mistake, it's ALL about the funding! (And, Antoinette, this stinks for you--but Colorado is ranked about 49th among all the states (or it was about three years ago) for it's special education funding--not trying to be a downer, just a factual heads-up) , as I've said before, just turned 8, and sometimes it STILL takes me two or three days to recover emotionally after his yearly IEP meeting--even though I truly KNOW where he is, and KNOW that it has to be written that way to get the funding. It's so hard. But he gets the services that he, and therefore WE, need, and he's doing great because of it. If people don't just KNOW that he has autism, it takes them a while to figure out SOMETHING is going on, but then they're surprised when they find out it's that. I hope I'm helping here at least a little. I wrote IEP's all the time prior to having my own kids--and words cannot describe how differently it feels to sit on the other side of that table... Take care-- and fam SCD four months
