Guest guest
Sasha, It has taken me 4 tries in 2 yrs to successfully put my son on the SCD diet. He is a major gut kid, always on something for yeast and bacteria. Our problem was always that he wouldn't branch out past his pickiness though to do the intro diet and stick with low yeast feeding SCD foods. He instead gagged and vomited, and I fed too many of the snack foods, etc. creating a yeast bandwagon. Finally, this time around, we have him eating cooked cubed vegetables and homemade chicken nuggets (ground chicken and a pureed veggie), and are able to limit his legal snacks. We are still having kicked up yeast (only 3 wks into the diet), but are getting formed stool for the first time in forever. So it is working, but requires at least for my son, to pull most fruits, and honey. and Ty/3.10 yrs. autism > > Hi, > Do you recommend SCD for a child who has extremely > restrictive eating habits and yeast issues or > attacking the yeast first? Guest guest
dear sasha's mom, i tried to get rid of yeast before scd and couldnt do it. i couldnt do it by removing all wheat, all sugars, and dairy. we did couple of rounds of nystatin but it kept coming back. (well never left anyway since it was probably systemic). i had to go starch free in order to rid my son of the horrible yeasties. and so scd was the way to go. i think if stop feeding the rice and other starches he might want to eat other things. as you get rid of the yeast you find that the sensory issues with food and texture start to get better. donna > > Hi, > Do you recommend SCD for a child who has extremely > restrictive eating habits and yeast issues or > attacking the yeast first? Guest guest
I would start with effective feeding therapy to broaden food choices, allowing you to introduce alternatives to the bad foods. Then SCD becomes more realistic. Suzanne > > Hi, > Do you recommend SCD for a child who has extremely > restrictive eating habits and yeast issues or > attacking the yeast first?
