Best to be safe....I will say a prayer for you that you feel better! Holly
Guest guest
I am pre-op and I think you should email Dr. R or call his office first thing in the morning. If you email him, in the subject area put something like " I have been in ER and need your advice " in SC Pre-op MGB Date 8/10/00 386 lbs./ 365 lbs./ If you see someone without a smile, Give them one of yours. If you and I should meet and You forget me, you have lost nothing. If you meet JESUS and you forget him, you will have lost everything. Guest guest
I have learned my lesson the hard way so please don't fuss at me, I need information. I was cramping terribly bad and took a Tylenol #3 in hopes of easing the pain. However I wound up in the ER with a pain I could not bear to lie down or sit, I walked the floor it hurt so bad. I could not tell if it was my heart or stomach. Well it was my stomach and this happened last Tuesday. I can still feel that place in my stomach. It bothers me when I eat. My question is this, has anyone else done anything this foolish? Do you think I could have damaged my stomach to the point of causing a leak or ulcer? I am concerned. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Lynda mgb 12-16-99 336/245/

It might be an ulcer if it has lasted awhile and you have this more than once. It might also be staple disruption. You should talk to Dr. R. about it. I doubt that taking one tylenol did anything much to you. The warning about tylenol is that it can cause liver damage because tylenol has always had the ability to cause liver damage if you take too much at once and with your post-MGB plumbing, there must be some reason that the tylenol is more likely to cause liver damage -- but I can't imagine that just one would do anything much. If you can, figure out what *started* the pain. Did you eat something really fast, not chewed well, some new food? Did you throw up? I have felt like I stretched the hole from the stomach to the intestine before -- it gets sore. Another time, I've had what felt like sore, pulled muscles *in* the stomach (not just the belly muscles) after I ate too fast and barfed up everything. Kind regards,

Hi, It is probably gastritis and is a risk well known to be associated with this surgery. The Rx is easy, go back to another month of the Prilosec/Prevacid and Carafate. If it persists after one or two months then we treat it with a big industrial dose of antibiotics for a bug that can live in your gut called Helicobacter pylori.
