Guest guest
Comment about BEAN Flour suggestion. Make sure that it is HOME MADE because store bought is more than likely SCD ILLEGAL because they do not soak the beans first or cook them. They just grind whole hard beans. THIS IS AN ILLEGAL STARCH AND NOT A MONODISACHARIDE. Plus time it takes to cook baked goods in the overn does not denature the complex sugars (which are illegal) or the dangerous lectins. Beans have to saok for a minimum of 12 hours and be cooked well before eating. Plus take care that the gut is healed enough to handle them. This can truly take some of us up to 6 months or more. Otherwise the darn things don't digest and even they will FERMENT and keep the vicious cycle going. In BTVC it says " What the body does not digest does harm " . So if you bake with beans....make sure to use the SCD soaked and cooked and purre to make a base for the cake...cookie or what ever it is/recipe you are using. Some vegetarians realize that their sick kids might be better off if they just buckle down and let their kids eat the meats that are high in B12 B6, folic and so many things that most SCd kids are defecient in when they arrive here. Since grain is not allowed it is impossilbe to get enough natural B vitamins with SCD foods alone. And sadly to say supplements don't always cut it when the gut is having problems absorbing. This doesn't mean that you as a vegetarian parent has to eat meat....it just means that they may NEED to allow their sick child to do so, to be healthy and to come back to health. PLease read about what B defeciencies do to the brain, neurological system by going to library and getting a book on nutrition...look up foods that are SCD legal that have a good B source. Especially in the most crucial (B12, B6 and Folic). Eat those foods and heal. My one daughter's body CRAVES " clean " organic liver that has no hormones and junk in it. She was the sickest ou of all of us....it is no wonder that the body realizes what it needs. Liver is the highest in those MUCH needed nutrients. I can't imagine doing this right vegetarian. Best of luck!
