Guest guest
" I've thought of going on the Intro diet, but I haven't got symptoms for this and it just stops me up if I do. " Dear , this is exactly what you may have to do. But this time this may help you to not loose weight. This is what we did when we had a set back like this, our daughter also HAD the moucous problem (diagnosed with atypical celiac disease and errosive colitis) She too can not afford to loose weight: 1)Go back to intro...but in order not to loose weight add more allowed starches. SCD legal Bananas (two to three a day if you do not have thrush or outward signs of yeast), avacados (lots of them), and up you allowed oils (olive oil, Carlson and Nordic Naturals Fish and Cod liver). EAT EIGHT TIMES A DAY....no joke here. 2)Stop taking protease containing enzyems if you are. This is proven to not be good for some of us with injured intestines. 3)Up your accidolphilus intake and probiotics 4)If you can do the goat yogurt eat it. Lots of it. 5) Take all legal cheeses made of bovine out of the diet. When clears up...only try the goat cheeses. 6) Try to eat only boiled meats easier to digest. Make meat stock and drink that too (with bones and joints very nutritious) 7) Supplement with good SCD vitamins and a strong B complex. Also get a B12 nasal gel or talk your doctor into giving you MB12 shots. 8) REVIEW everything that you are ingesting or putting in your mouth. There may be an illegal sneaking in. My husband's feet hurt when he gets overgrowth problems in his gut. We still do not know why. He too is healing from celiac/injured intestines. After die off his feet stopped hurting. Hope this helps, Antoinette (entire family of five doing SCD because our guts are a mess but finnaly healing) Family Problems: celiac, colitis, injured intestines, ASD, ADHD, ADD, mental illness) > > Hello Everyone, > > Sorry I'm not much of a participant. Guest guest
olive oil is not necesarily a good building block for membranes a good quality fish oil for omega threes and sunflower or safflower oil for omega sixes might be worth looking at and some vit e to help with stricture elasticity the skin is a good indicator of intestine condition kiwifruit has high protease leveles (protease = protein digesesting enzyme) the midday sun in southern spain is starting to have a reasonable level of vitamin d rays and paradoxically this can be quite immune supressing which may help sheeps milk is the richest and highest protein and mineral content of all the milks mercury in fish is significant and very dependent on length or fish size > > Dear Antoinnette, > Thanks for the hints.Unfortunately living in southern Spain has it's limits with access to certain foods etc. I do my best... > Never heard of protease so I'm not taking it anyway. > > You have basically confirmed my regular food choices on eating high caloric foods such as avacados etc. which I always do genreally to keep my weight up. Eating eight times a day, I agree is no joke. I'm always hungry anyway and eat all day normally. Maybe not 8 times due to work ...but I normally eat 5 times a day - this is normal in Spain -we have 5 meals :-). I usually have 2 bananas a day plus a small avocado with plenty of olive oil. Only oil we use. The issue is the bananans stop me up as do eggs and I do eat many of these. 1 to 2 if small, eggs a day. Obvious thing is to cut down on eggs... (and even bananas -but my potacium level drops easily so I really need those bananas!). When I'm constipated I increase salads, raw fruit (kiwis, oranges) that help with bowel movements. But when I see the mucus, I stop all fruit thinking it's too much sugar. I've read that even LEGAL fruits can be harmful.... > I do make up lots of broths: chicken as well as fish. Sometimes the fish feels better it also takes less time to make:-). Eat the boiled meet from these as well. Also, seem to be ok with grilled beef or turkey, or fish. And steemed or boiled carrots ( from soup), string beans & zuquini( no seeds). > > Gave up on yogurt ages ago before I discovered the goat milk suggestion. Thinking of trying it now. No probiotic( tried some - spent a forturne on shipping but didn't help) and seem to be fine without them, normally. I do eat lots of LEGAL cheeses. Harvarti especially as this is mentioned on the list. Your sugestion to reduce the cheeses with bovine leaves me with basically the goat cheeses instead of cow, right? Just any goat cheese? There must be the same protocol for goat cheeses as for cow cheese, not all are permited, right? Kind find listed info about this. What about sheep cheese? Anyone know about this? In Spain we certainly have plenty of this as well as lots of cheeses mixed: goat & sheep. Off them since started the diet as they weren't mentioned in the book. > > As for vitamins: I take FREEDA, SCD Multivitamin. I don't have access to my old doctor anymore and I haven't found another one who is even slightly(as he was) sympathetic to the Diet. I've had B short before, but when I was in severe bouts with hemorrhaging. I don't think I'm in a stage that warrants this. > > As for REVIEWING everything ingested. I do. To the point of paranoya according to others. No error there. Basically what brings on any kind of disorder will be high level emotional stress that's normally work related. I take Bach Flowers when this starts to build up. But this time I hadn't ....Mia culpa.... > > As for the foot inflamation I read that in REFLEXOLOGY the map of the human body is reflected on the souls of our feet. The area that gets inflamed or hurts our feet often is asociated with the organs in our body - our intestins. Neve took one of these massages for the problem, wonder if this type of therapy works. > > I seem to be better today. I've been taking Ispaghula Husk seed (in powder). I could only find info about this under herbal medicine, but it's something that was given to me by my old doctor (and bought in regular pharmacy) when he said to take incase of constipation or even slightly loose movements. He insisted that it was safe, and it hasn't done harm on other occassions - it instead helps. I can't find any info about this either on either the SCD or this Site. I also increased my regular dose of Mesalazine ( Spanish brand: Claversal) from 1,500mg to 3,000mg. I'm not sure if it's a combination of all mentioned as well as forcing myself to do less work. Won't cry victory though....not for a few days. Don't want the gods to hear me less they get angry again :-). > > Thanks again. > > F., 37 / UC 9 yrs SCD9yrs > > I've noticed that things start to look ugly when there is mucus > build up in the stools (and of course stress buildup). Not to mention > slight inflamation of the heel(s) or arch of foot - anyone else with > these signs? There are plenty of other foods to eat besides bananas to increase potassium. I've tried increasing mine, and I have more energy now - I believe I have a low thyroid. I make a quick soup of a cup of frozen spinach mixed with a cup of tomato juice. It equals about 1.5 bananas potassium wise. But I don't know what you can and can't eat because of your condition, but the chart on that page should help with suggestions. Take care. Guest guest
the oddest thing i have seen on message boards is the way amercians will not supplement iodine for hypothyroid but crave medical diagnosis and thyroid meds adequate selenium is important for the conversion of t3 to t4 it is importnat to undestand that thryoid meds do NOT give the better brain blood circulation that naturally augemented thyroid function does i have written up on iodine and lithium in the index of http://tinyurl.com/2csa3 why people prefer to be medically sick and need medical diagnosis rather than do anything sensible is beyond me > I usually have 2 bananas a day plus a small avocado with plenty of > olive oil. Guest guest
This is a tough one. Do you know if supplementing iodine for Hashimotos disease is recommended? I have read many places from both doctors and patients that iodine aggravates Hashimotos which is an autoimmune thyroid disease. Guest guest
its not as simple as supplementing iodine, you need to get the t3 to t4 conversion with selenium and other essential minerals lithium is needed as well but you never read the links i posted where i have written up on this you want doctors advice, you want patients advice then you find that context accpetable, that is, these people deal with, or are seriously medically ill personally i don't want to go there and put all my efforts into avoiding that the moment you walk through a doctors door you are in a different context and its a bleak cruel place full of pain and suffering > >> I usually have 2 bananas a day plus a small avocado with plenty of > >> olive oil. Guest guest
, I have found that certain foods give me mucus. If I keep on eating these foods, the mucus eventually becomes bloody, so I know for the fact that the high carb content of these foods increases inflammation in my case. I have finally learned to stay away from the following foods: honey bananas winter squashes (pumpkin, accorn, spaghetti squash) I think that hard cheeses are a culprit too, so i stay away from them I can occassionaly have some fruits (except for bananas) but I have to keep to a minimum. As you know everyone reacts to foods differently. But maybe you can try to eliminate some foods and see what happens.
