Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just wanted to let everyone know I'm home (Texas) safe and sound and feeling GREAT!!! Had the MGB on Monday, 7/24/00. I was in the holding area only about 10 minutes because Blair wasn't to be done that day. As everything was just a blur without my glasses, I asked to talk to Dr. R. He came by and talked to me and I immediately felt at ease. I think there was something in the IV in the holding area right before the OR, because the last I remember is getting on the table. Don't remember anything else. I stayed 2 nights only because the anesthesia and pain meds really knocked me for a loop. I had surgery at 10:00 AM. Slept like a log until 10:00 PM when 2 nurses woke me up to use the bathroom and take a quick stroll. Then back to sleep until Dr. R came to see me on Tuesday AM. Used very little of the pain medicine in the hospital. Last dose of Demerol was at 3 AM Tuesday morning. I have felt no pain or nausea. I've had no vomiting. Nothing. I asked my husband and post-op buddy, Carol, if Dr. R really did the procedure!! I've followed the discharge instructions to the letter. I'm on liquids until next Monday. I do feel a bit dry in my mouth, so I'm having to make sure to get enough liquids. The Nurses in the hospital were all wonderful, I wish I could remember all their names. I was on the Pediatrics floor. To Blair, my almost littermate, it will work out in August! You made it through the hard part, the pre-op preparations. Thanks Trish, Lori, and Genz for visiting me in the hospital. You gals are so much fun! Wish I could have gone to the party. Thanks Dr. Rutledge for the wonderful gift you share. For any pre-ops, the anticipation was worse than the actual surgery!! Go for it!! Sincerely, Bernardine , TX MGB 7/24/00 248/238 5'8 "
Guest guest
Cathy, Yes, we made it to Sunset Beach on Wednesday. Hubby and the kids spent 4 afternoons on the beach. I slept at the condo on Wednesday, Thursday and then hit the beach on Friday sipping Gatorade. It was a wonderful way to recover. Thanks for your best wishes. Mine are with you, too! What's the latest in your journey for the MGB? I've been trying to catch up on the posts. There are so many! Guest guest
Hi Bernardine, I am so glad everything turned out so well for you. Thank you for letting us know the anticapation was worse than the reality. I promised my husband that as soon as Dr. R approved me and I got a date I would mellow out. Great news that you weren't in any pain or had any nausea. Keep up the great recovery and let us pre-ops know how you are doing, it really helps us to be prepared. So Happy For You! Guest guest
Hi , Getting the insurance approval is the biggest hurdle! Then, the anticipation of the surgery begins. If someone would have told me what little pain I was going to experience, I wouldn't have believed them! The only pain I had was in my left shoulder and, at that, it wasn't that bad. Best wishes for the insurance approval - suggestion, call them at least once a week - squeaky wheel gets the grease LOL! Sincerely, Bernardine 7/24/00 248/236 > Hi Bernardine, > I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your story, it put me at ease a > little.
