ALL,

Please read Dr. NC's book for yourself. It's a welcome, rational addition to

the SCD community ...It advocates SCD, but not 'only SCD', also detailed

discussions on enzymes, essential fatty acids, probiotics, etc.... it is very

important to apply the info for yourself and not adopt others' overzealous

agendas, and quotes taken out of context, from her book.

For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book

_Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following

,

I look forward to reading this book! I whole heartedly agree with your

philosophy. SCD makes a wonderful foundation to work from. We have had (have)

great success just using SCD alone, but found tweaking the diet to our special

needs, which includes having animals raised for us with no grain on beautiful

organic pasture, fresh, just milked goats milk, little to no nuts, enzymes and

growing some of our own foods with rich soil and organic methods to be part of

our puzzle and process. While Elaine did say such methods were not necessary to

use SCD, they were and are for us. We even react to sprays, which include nasty

Monsanto chemicals like ethoxyquin sprayed on berries! We have used fresh bone

marrow broths, prepared the chinese way before SCD and use them even more now.

Yoga in the sun has been more beneficial than PT/OT in a flourescent lit,

windowless room with lots of plastic toys and swings. Music lessons help my

children develop fine motor skills and auditory

processing while developing a real life skill.

Ben's leaky gut is cured, his kidneys continue to grow stronger (no under eye

color), my children who started SCD late non-verbal are verbal, care for

themselves, cook, and tend garden, paint and design art pieces like no tomorrow.

Blood sugar is stable, muscle tone much better. Sensory problems are becomming

dim dreams of years past. Fungal cysts in remission. All I can say is, by

tweaking the diet and making our own protocol, we are healing. This is what

matters, there is nothing to argue about in books. They are there for

information. Nothing to protect, nor defend, perhaps to discuss. One method does

not work for everyone, there are many factors to increasing health, and part of

it is getting out there researching, prudently trying things, and so forth.

There is no room for agendas, there is no one answer, simple or complicated, for

everyone.

We all benefit from open communication on this forum, and everyone should take

responsibility for themselves, as thinking adults, to be prudent, research, and

try therapies in a reasonable manner. Above all, let us worry about our own

healing, and not worry about convincing everyone else. The proof is in the

pudding, everyone's own healing tells the story loud and clear.

Part of increasing vitality and healing the immune system is taking a series

of forks in the road, constantly. Equipping oneself with skills to navigate

these roads is more important than theory and quotes.
