Guest guest
Ok, yesterday we let Tobias go to swimming lesson. I gave him extra mag., he took good shower before going into pool, didn't go into hot tub and showered after swimming. I had talked to him about it and told him if we could do this with out him having difficulty staying in control we would be able to complete the lessons. He had difficulty several times but was able to get himself/keep himself in check. About 9 last night he was sitting by me watching the end of the 'the inventor' and he just simply started to flip out. It was down hill from there. I guess my question is: Can the chemicals be building up in him. We have had a rather ruff 2 1/2 weeks. Not anything like before SCD but not good either. This would have been the 5th week of lessons. It didn't seem like we had problems at first but now it seems like he is back to being edgy even on the days between lessons. He keeps himself under control but just barely. We have decided that we will discontinue the lessons for now and see if things clear up for him again or not. Some days I feel rather psychotic. Sandy M. Guest guest
Sandy, My kids might be in the minority. I don't know. But for my kids it would definitely be cumulative. I can counteract the worst of the effects by doing what I mentioned before, but it doesn't counteract it 100%. If I took them to a pool frequently, it would be a very bad thing for the two of them. Guest guest
Hi Sandy. No high tech answers here, but has anyone heard of or seen so-called regressions periodically happening during the first year on SCD, which can't be explained by other factors like a new food? My Dan doctor (Long Island, NY) gave me a handout created by a mom in his practice that followed about 9 kids during their first year of SCD, looking for patterns. This handout reported that the vast majority of these 9 ASD kids on SCD experienced noticeable regressions throughtout the year, starting at about the 2 month interval and recurring every 2 months thereafter. The regressions can last anywhere from a few days to about 3 weeks. Its usually return of/increase in stimming, " bad " behaviors, sleep disturbances, things like that... I not know if this is reliable info, but thought I'd mention it to see if any veterans out there have seen this to be true. So how about it you " old timers " : Anyone notice a pattern of unexplained regressions? If so, maybe this is going on for you Sandy and hopefully it'll subside soon since its been 2-1/2 weeks already. I do hope that the veterans will have a more concrete answer for you. Good Luck. Guest guest
This could be a possiblility and we will not really know if it is staying out of the pool or the end of the agression. The only thing is he really is the worst after the pool except for last night and it waited about 2 hrs. Interesting thoughts. I do know we had a regression about 2 1/2 months in to this. I guess I thought we were home free from this untill later. I can do all things through Him.
