Guest guest
Dear Gay, Patti and Antoinette: Thanks everyone for the info. Very helpful. My UC symptoms came on very quickly (about one month after a trip to Hawaii). We had read in the book about parasites in the springs. So, I went to the doctor to check it out and it came back negative. Over a year's period a time, I started having the attacks closer and closer together in time until I thought I might become really sick then I found SCD. I had IBS with constipation and mucous my whole life but I now I'm starting to think maybe I got a parasite in Hawaii and it didn't show up in the test. Does anyone know if SCD can get rid of parasites? I am doing very well on the diet but I think I am more tired. This is a hard call because I work so much harder because of the diet so I'm not sure if its the diet or all the cooking. What are the symptoms of a parasite condition? Can exhaustion be caused from parasite infection? Thanks everyone again, Eileen
Guest guest
> > > > Any recommendation for a parasite remedy which is SCD legal. Thank > you, Eileen We did a parasite cleanse using Hulda 's protocol. You can find it on www.curezone.com. It consists of a tincture of green hulled black walnut (alcohol), and capsules of clove and wormwood. If you google parasite cleanse you can find the places that sell these things. I got it from www.onelifeusa.com and was very happy with the results. It supposedly kills off about 100 species of parasites, and I saw quite a few with both me and BJ. I think it helped us both, and neither had bad reactions to the ingredients. My asthma greatly improved afterwards, and I rarely take my inhalers now. BJ did have a massive die off and his pooped smelled like the bears den at the zoo for a couple of days, but that was the worst - no behavior problems noted. If you do this with a child, don't tell the school. I thought I was being kind in telling them in case they saw something in his stool (he's not toilet trained), but they had quite a fit and wanted a doctor's note to say it was OK for him to go to school while this was happening. Not worth the headache. Sue B celiac, BJ fragile X SCD 1 year
Guest guest
I don't have experience with parasite, but I personaly know that stress can make Candida and some of the bad mircrofloar in the gut go out of control and this caused me severe fatigue, irritability foggy brain and I felt " drunk " without drinking. I could have slept for days and awaken tired prior to SCd...and needed a nap to recover from my nap lol...but I couldn't because I had sick kids...mom's are amazing arn't we. Even sick we manage some how. lol Parasites could make the bad gut flora worse, thanks to the stress and imbalance they cause. You may need to stool test again. If it came back negative...maybe it is just bad gut flora (this can feel like a parasite) because the bad gut guys eat a good portion of the foods that you are not digesting thanks to the vicious cycle. If this is the case SCD will help you tremendously. This diet by nature starves the bad gut bugs out. Try a good intro diet for a minimum of three days (decrease the honey, no juice or water it down half and half, eat only easy to digest foods/NO ADVANCED Stuff..see stages at Pecan Bread for guide lines...not set in stone by the way). We had to eat intro longer thanks to Celiac Disease and severe injury to our intestines. Couldn't tolerate much else. We ate intro fro 10 days and had the die off of a life time. The SCD yogurt is a God send because it reestablishes the natural balance of the gut when you use SCD safe starters only. We also take SCD acidolphilus with the yogurt. When Die off Hits take activated charocal capsules one hour before or one hour after meals (so the charocal doesn't compete with the absorption of your foods). Die off looks like this: flue like symptoms, stomach cramps, dizzyness, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, strange rashes, mood swings, achey body. Remember " This too shall Pass " and when it does your mind will be more clear and you will have more energy! yeah!!!! Hope you come to conclusion about your delima soon. Parasites do not sound like fun at all. Antoinette (SCD all five of us since 2/06 and healing when no other way worked...and boy did we try other ways prior to this) > > Dear Gay, Patti and Antoinette: > > Thanks everyone for the info. Guest guest
I honestly think the whole parasite topic is far beyond what we can address here. You may need to consult a good naturopath. I know regular medical docs just brush off the idea, unless it shows up on their very narrow testing. You can probably find out a lot by searching online. Also look for a book by Anne Louise Gittleman, titled: Guess What Came to Dinner: Parasites and Your Health. Other than that, I'd just warn you to be cautious about what you read on the net concerning parasites, and consult an experienced professional. Think about it this way, though.... parasites can't thrive in a healthy body. Sort of like weeds and diseases in a garden... the healthier the soil and plants are, the fewer unwanted pests and diseases. Parasites do survive best in a sick body, where the pH is acidic and the immune system is down. Then, they'll contribute to that by making the situation worse. I doubt SCD alone could get rid of them completely, but it would certainly help indirectly, by creating a healthy body environment overall. If you're feeling tired, it could be normal bacterial die-off that happens at the beginning of SCD. best, Patti, mom to Katera Parasite remedy - seeking SCD recommendations Dear Gay, Patti and Antoinette: Thanks everyone for the info. Guest guest
Absolutely parasites can cause exhaustion. My ND says airplanes are a great place to pick up parasites. My son's stool test also showed up negative for parasites, but I have seen them myself in his blood when it is analyzed. The DAN doc gave Flagyl which is an antibiotic that also kills parasites. The Naturopath had several herbal remedies to choose from- they did wonders for my relative who got one from the Mayo Clinic (her symptoms- asthma and exhaustion that went away with treatment). Most herbal products should be OK if you check them again the illegal/legal list on the BTVC site. The workers at health foods stores sometimes are really knowledgable (but not always!) Also, low B12 may be a problem. Have you had that checked? Hope you figure it out and feel better soon! Guest guest
There is a salt/vitamin C protocol that I've heard is amazingly effective. Salt kills the buggers and the vitamin C helps the body heal. Healingcrow is another SCD board and I've seen many posts there - those who do this actually feel them exiting the body and/or see them. Guest guest
This is interesting, Robbie. I wonder if it's partly a matter of alkalinizing the body. I've read that parasites love an acidic environment. Thanks for posting this. Guest guest
Someone gave the example of pouring salt on a slug... and I guess it has the same effect on these organisms. But I don't know if it's the acid/alkaline balance that does it. Another interesting thing I saw posted from one girl is that her cholesterol and blood pressure went to normal after starting the protocol. Too interesting! Especially with all the bad publicity salt has been given. Robbie Re: Parasite remedy - seeking SCD recommendations There is a salt/vitamin C protocol that I've heard is amazingly effective.
