Have recently given Cameron the odd bits of goat cheddar and haven't

seen any negative effect - however, have been battling yeast possibly

b/c of MB12 and fruit and wondering if the goat cheddar contributes to

yeast?

I was told that it can. We personaly don't cut it all out...just

limited the amount. The SCDiet takes over where over ways of eating

don't. This is where cheese may have gotten a bad rep for feeding

yeast...from other diet plans that do not work.

By nature alone the SCDiet starves out the bad guys. If it is an SCD

legal food. It has been used for over 60 years with success in

breaking the vicious cycle. Elaine wanted us to water down the juice

(or not use it), and also cut down the use of honey to 1/3 in the

beginning. The SCD spoted banana has always been well tolerated.

Some raw fruits are feeding yeast not because they are fruit...but

because raw fruit is hard to digest. Any thing in the beginning that

is difficult to digest will feed yeast and the bad gut guys, because

it sits in the gut and can ferments. This could be any advanced

food. So we cooked and peeled our suaces up untill recently. Making

sauce out of everything. We have no more outward signs of yeast and

didn't use nothing but this diet to acheive this.

Hope this helps, Antoinette (SCD 2/06...mother to -4 KiKi-2 and

Bubbles -1 because of Celiac and ASD and more..now healing when no

other way worked)

Ok, perhaps we were missing the " miracle " of the SCD healing bit,

but bananas have been an issue for my Joe here. I removed the

bananas and a bit of the nut products, increase yogurt and enzymes

(granted we've been SCD for Joe since last October)... and he's back

to normal stools... however, we recently reintroduced bananas only

to find constipation yet again.

Bananas are NOT easily digested by all... fyi.

october 2004 (4-year-old son, Joe)... all the others are healthy as

mini Oxen... regardless of SCD (FYI).

Carol,

I know (from discussions on this list years ago) that bananas and applesauce are

generally considered to be somewhat " binding " .... meaning, they can help firm up

loose stools in those with diarrhea. Everyone is definitely different.... what's

tolerated by one might not be by another.

back on SCD)

Carol,

Indeedy, there is no such thing as a guideline for everyone. Bananas are a

trigger for many people, as coconuts are for many. One hopes this will be grown

out of as the gut heals, but there is no such thing as a guarantee. If removing

them aids healing, it would be foolhardy to go against observation. The key to

making SCD work for so many of us is observing our bodies, our reactions, our

behavoirs, and adjusting to make a fit. This is all a learning process for

everyone, and the more we try things, the more we see what is right for us, and

what is wrong for us. All of this can be done while adhering strictly to SCD.

Its technique you employ through observation, pat yourself on the back for this.

As a side, as a person who has lived in the pines on 3 different

occassions, bananas and coconuts mangoes and avocados not grown on commercial

farms, but grown on the outskirts of jungle close to sea water are a whole

different phenomena than what is at the grocers. People have been eating them

for thousands of years, but not the same varieties. Also, gut flora in regions

is different, drinking the water can tell you that much. All of this to say,

there is no one rule for tolerating a banana, and many factors involved with the

evolution of foods, the evolution of digestive flora and fauna, and the

particular flora and fauna situations of spectrum people. Lots to think about.

You're doing a good job!
