Guest guest
Dear list mates, I wanted to share where the advice of " fanatical adherance " come from. It was Elaine herself, and it use to upset me too. I was very very intimidated by this statement that she makes on pg. 68 in her BTVC book. It scared us that if we didn't do it right that we would not have success. Dr. Haas is the one who told her this. She too was scared at one time if she messed this chance up that her sick daughter Judy may not heal. Her duaghter was horribly sick in every way imaginable, psychologicaly, neurologicaly and of course physicaly, thanks to having a serious intestinal injury that almost took her life. Here is the quote from the book written by Elaine herself: " The strictness of this diet cannot be overemphasized nor should the difficulty of adhering to it be minimized. Faithful observance requires intelligence and vigilance on the part of those taking care of the individual or on the part of the person who cooks for himself or herself. It is surprising how many times a child will manage, despite the best supervisioin, to get hold of forbidden food. It is equally surprising how many parents will decide, despite all warning, that " just a taste " of ice cream, cookie, or candy will do no harm. Such infringements will seriously delay recovery and it is unwise to undertke this regimen unless you are willing to follow it with fanatical adherence. " From Chapter 9, pg 68 of BTVC book. When I say " fanatical adherance " over and over again like a broken record....it is because it is the truth and not my idea, it is because this is the only way this plan works according to Dr. Haas and Elain G. Hope this helps those who wonder where this statement come from. Warm Regards to all of us who are doing our best to make this thing work for us.
