Guest guest
This is an old e-mail to me giving me hope from Mimi the owner and one of the moderators of Pecan Bread. I wanted to share to all who question that SCDiet may not work for them and share that HOPE: My first SCD experience was with the SCD-list (also known as the Long Island list). At that time,it was the only beginner's list. That list was so fanatical! When a list member said that brand X garlic powder had no starch (he knew someone who worked in that company),the list member was thrown out. No risks,no change for the SCD rules... Everyone promoted fanatical adherence and any violation was taboo. Someone once tracked the children of autism whose parents participated in the Long Island list). At that time, there were very few parents of aautism on the list but the outcome was phenomenal. All the children who were 5 or younger had recovered from autism! (One exception was a boy from the UK who ate his sister's treats.) I am not saying that SCD will cure all our autistic children but that you should give fanatical SCD a chance. Make sure that you are doing it right. Many parents are sure that they did SCD..... From Mimi (owner of Pecan Bread) This GAVE ME SUCH HOPE when she sent this to me off serve, and helped us to realize that " fanatical adherance " the suggestion that Elaine gives, is not a joke to be taken lightly if one wants success with SCDiet alone. No nothing else needed but Elaine promoted supplements and SCD foods. As difficult it has been for us to origional trust this, we are truly now reaping the benifits. I truly understand that this may not work for others. That is why we have other solutions, other books, DAN! protocol and all sorts of info out there, that often confuses the new comer. But for SCD to work the integrety of this diet plan can not be altered with other ways....I urge you to give it a chance before trying other ways and see if it works for you and your child. Sincerely Antoinette
Guest guest
I want to clarify that this essay was not finished. I was in a hurry when I wrote it and you can see that the last sentence " Many parents are sure that they did SCD..... " was incomplete and meant to say: Many parents are sure that they did SCD correctly.....but actually made mistakes and need more help. Please always try to get help if you are not getting good results. I also made mistakes in the beginning. Don't give up on SCD without checking to make sure that the diet was done correctly. I also meant to add that while I know of several kids who recovered with just SCD,it is essential to get good educational interventions. There are also many good therapies that do not interfere with SCD. My son complies fully with SCD,but my daughter fights it. Last year we spent over $20000 to get additional therapies for her...Yes,they were very helpful but when she had a SCD infraction, she regressed dramatically. SCD was 90% and the rest was 10%. My daughter needs all these interventions but SCD is the most important. Try to avoid treatments that interfere with SCD. If your child is now taking a lot of supplements, then stop all the pills for one month and retry them one at a time. Some kids with severe gut issues might not tolerate any pills. Of course, use caution and medical help if your child has seizures or other serious complications. You might get the pills to be compounded to only contain legal ingredients. Most importantly,I want to thank the owner of the long Island List for all her dedication to SCD. Running a fanatical SCD list did not make her popular...most newbies hated her and the list. However, she did not care for popularity. She only cared to heal her list members and she knew that fanatical adherence does bring phenomenal results. I want to express my love and admiration to Turet,a true heroine. Please pray for her;she needs your prayers now. Tears are coming to my eyes. Guest guest
Sam, Unfortunately,I have no news. No,you never missed any posts. You just inspired me.... Let all of us make some kind of internet greeting card for and thank her because her list was what inspired pecanbread. She is responsible for spreading the word about SCD in the IBD community. Anyone here, have any ideas how to cheer her? Mimi Thank you for the appreciation!! > > Mimi, my apologies if I have missed some applicable email, but is there some > recent information concerning Turet health? I would also like to add a special thanks to you for all > of your dedication and efforts for this email list. Best wishes, Sam. >
