My son gets methyl B12 shots. His DAN doctor gave a Rx for it.

Thank you for replying, Becky.

If one were not wanting to go with the shots, do you still need a Rx

for the nasal spray? If not, do you know where to get it in the nasal

spray form?

I don't know much about the nasal spray. I believe you do need a Rx

though. My friend tried it for a while and didn't think it did much, so

switched to shots. My DAN Dr. didn't think it worked as well as the

shots.

Are you afraid to do the shots? Is the B12 for you or your child? I do

the shots about 15 minutes after he goes to sleep. He has no clue about

them, he will move sometimes but it is a very tiny needle, I tried it

out on myself and can barely feel it.

oral methyl b-12's i found feed intestinal yeast so i use the

cyanocobalamin b-12 which does not feed intestinal yeast but you need

adequate selenium since good levels of glutathione are required are

required to detox the cyano portion of the b-12

mb12 is proably best by injection done by yourself to keep control

over the amount and frequency but i find that the cyano doing it the

way i do it seems to work well

many kids on this board would benefit trendously by b-12 injections

for a short while at least, probably help with weight loss etc and

starting issues, would cut months off recovery time.

i think injected b-12 is like enzymes, changes things so much its

foolish not to it

nasal b-12 encourages yeast

Cathy,

My daughter has an RX for the nasal spray, my son gets the shots (over

1 1/2 yrs now). We noticed some improvement in speech and he started

sleeping at night and his leg cramps disappeared for a time. But

then, nothing new. We actually had to decrease his dose since the one

for his weight started to make him hyper. Last urinary metabolic test

still showed him with a high need for B12 so I don't know what the

deal is there.

We tried the nasal spray over the winter for my girl, but she seemed

to catch every cold and flu and I couldn't give it to her

consistantly. The nasal spray only seemed to make her more congested

plus I was concerned about harboring germs on the applicator. She also

complained it burned.

But, I can't sneak in and give her shots like my son- she wakes up at

the slightest sound and it takes forever for her to fall back asleep.

Plus she was scared to go to sleep. So....We are retrying the nasal

spray again next week- I actually just called and refilled it this

morning. If it still bothers her sinuses I have to decide either to

make her take the shots awake (she's a total needle phobe so that

would not be fun!) or try the oral form or a cream like my friend has

compounded for her daughter. I use oral B12 from hallelujah acres for

myself- don't know legality. I would love to know if MB12 shots were

available without prescription because I would get them for myself!

Janet, mom to Cody- 5 yrs old- SCD since 4-17-06- multi food

allergies, etc.

The thing to watch w/ the MB12 inj is that since you bypass all

the gut absorption issues, you get nearly 100% return on the B12.

Which means it creates a demand for adequate folice acid. If you do

NOT have absorption problems, and your child eats appropriate

amounts of fruits/veggies high in FA, you are probably okay.

When we started w/ the MB12 shots with Glenn in 11/04, we found

that he benifited immensly from supplementation from folinic acid

(the " body-ready " version of FA). Some kids have a genetic issue

with getting folinic acid from folate food sources and that is why

we chose to do this. Worked great for us.

good point, i find i need 200 - 400 mg of metafolin to counterbalance

the 20 mcg of oral cyano b-12 i take

folic acid didn't seem to cut it but the source naturals metafolin

does (a metabolically more active form of folic acid)

its also great for sleep
