Guest guest
I don't know if this helps, but our pediatrician is telling us to eat a protein at each snack. I know for a fact that our protein ratio is much, much, higher than what was suggested below, some days close to 40%. I also add coconut oils and other saturated fats to much of everything so we are close to the 40% mark here too (we use No trans fats or hydrogenated fats though/bad for brain development). This does not mean that we are right. We are doing quite fine with this though. Healing rather fast and good. I think that as long as it is SCD food and they are getting an assortment of choices and eat their fill, we are all going to be fine. Our five year old son has always been big for a " celiac " ...and on this SCDiet we have been able to maintain his status of being in the 90th% in height at 46 inches, and 80% in weight now at 49# (checked just yesterday at doctors, 5 year old check up). I have been told to relax by our doctor since his last check up. KiKi at two, eats like him....and although a typical portrait of a celiac child...came to SCD very thin (too thing, low muscle tone and sick (bloated too), lost at first...has came from the 5% in weight up to the 15% and remains stead at the 80% in height. Bubbles has always been " healthy " to look at. Eating this way she maintains the 90% in height and maintains the 50% in weight. I have gained 6 pounds doing it this way. Surely nobody looks fat in our home lol! How could you eating SCD and being healing celiacs?... lol!......but we also eat 8 times a day though to maintain good healing and health. It seems at time this is all we do. lol! Our pediatrician now promotes the SCDiet thanks to our success with it. She thought me and KiKi where the most remarkable. Both of us where so sick prior to doing this. Hope this helps, Antoinette/celiac and /celiac (parents to -5 celiac/adhd; KiKi celic/asd; Bubbles hyperekplexia...SCD 2/06)
