Guest guest
I am in a hurry but wanted to repost something that was on another list.(With permission). I want to again give my gratitude to Turet for her efforts in making a " fanatical " list that helped so many. Mimi ==================================================================== You asked where I got the information about the recovery rates for children who do SCD. I got this information from the archives of the two lists that first reported the use of SCD for autism. RecoveredKids --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- was the founder of RecoveredKids,a yahoo list. She reports a 100% recovery rate for the two children that she knew who were doing SCD. This sample is too small to generalyze but it is very encouraging. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RecoveredKids/message/5261 The dairy-free version of the SCD diet was a miracle for both my kids. It recovered my daughter and saved my NT son from wasting away. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RecoveredKids/message/5451 I don't know if you will hear of many more success stories with this diet because hardly anyone is doing it. I only know of one other Mom, besides myself, and her son is recovered. Between the two of us, we've told hundreds of parents about this diet. It took a giant leap of faith to do this. I doubted myself big time. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- The longisland listserve: The archives of the longisland listserve can be searched by subscribing to it:SCD-list-subscribe@... (long island list) At the beginning there were only 2 parents of children with autism on the longisland listserve:Dawn and Jen Young. Dawn's story: http://www.scdiet.org/6research/autism.html [responding to Elaine's question about how Allie came to feel so much better] I had written in about this before. She has been on SCD for 4 months now and has been declassified from her autism diagnosis. She is still a very spirited little girl, but all her autistic behaviors have disappeared. I am using the yogurt and cheeses with her. Her favorite treat is the orange juice/yogurt creamscicles! She has a couple of those a day. She also loves the half & half yogurt mixed with apple butter. Dawn UC 11 yrs, SCD 7 months - no meds Allie cured autistic, SCD 4 months Jen Young's story: http://www.redflagsweekly.com/features/2002_sept23.html Luster also joined the longisland listserve for a brief time. Her son also recovered from SCD. It is not clear if SCD was responsible for her son's recovery because he was on it for only several months. I am not including him in the data. A little while later, more mothers joined the list. The following mothers had very young children:JK and Tamaro. B had a 6 year old. JK reported that SCD was healing her child ;her child did not remain on SCD because the parents' religion forbade meat and he was allergic to eggs. Tamaro's son recovered and is in a regular private school. He has mild ADD. was so grateful to SCD that she funded the SCD table at the DAN Portland conference. Tamaro has written several posts about his recovery on pecanbread. A B's child was over 5 when he started SCD. He made dramatic progress with the diet. He was able to be mainstreamed in schools but he is still on the spectrum. His mother recently wrote post #42096 on abmd I am not including him because he was over 5 when he started the diet. There were also some mothers with older children on that list. I am too tired right now to write about them right now. What is the success rate for the young SCD pioneers who remained on SCD for several years? There were 5 kids who were 5 years old or younger when they started SCD. All of them recovered. That is 100% success rate. Again,I want to repeat that these numbers are too small to make general conclusions. How can we explain such a miracle? Can it be attributed to the fact that the only beginners list at that time was the longisland listserve,a list that is unusually strict list, even by the standards of other SCD lists? Both Tamaro and Jen young have revealed that 100% compliance with SCD was the secret of their success so that might explain this astonishing success rate. Today, things are different and we cannot expect to replicate these amazing success rates. Every Tom,Dick, and Harry has come up with a new way to improve SCD. Parents are constantly bombarded with advice to modify SCD. Even the company that provides the probiotics for SCD is giving advise that is not in agreement with SCD. There are also some children who have severe ASD and need a lot of other interventions besides SCD in order to recover. > > Recently a mom posted a request to parents of kids who have been able to > recover from SCD alone.
