Guest guest
Hi Margie, It might work but I wouldn't want to take anything without Dr. R's ok. It's really not too bad except once in awhile. I am really making progress......I can now swallow the One Source Vitamin along with my Actigal......two monsters down at one time!!!!!! How are you feeling.....still hungry????? Don't forget to eat crackers. Try Better Cheddars, they are my favorite. Eat lots of watermelon too with lots of salt. Guest guest
Margie, I started eating watermelon 6 days post-op. Your tummy heals over the staples in 5-7 days so I felt safe. Don't neglect eating your crackers. I ate crackers in the hospital, they help prevent nausea and reflux. The also help with the need to chew. Watermelon is wonderful because it gives you substance to chew, fiber (when you swallow it Flo!), lots of liquid to help quinch your thirst and a great way to get your additional salt. It is also one of the least painful foods to swallow at first. I eat watermelon all day long when I can find a good one. Also try grits or cream of wheat with salt and milk. That really feels good on the tummy too and provides you with some protein. Have fun experimenting!!!!!!!! Remember, the majority do not have all these things happen! And, I don't think they mean " hurt " -- probably just a new sensation. Relax sweetie and don't take everything so to heart! You are a dear! You will do fine! Guest guest
Hi Holly, At first I experienced discomfort in swallowing anything including water. Water especially hurt. I tried to take my meds with thicker drinks like Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with skim milk. As time went by and I added real food....I would have a little discomfort. It felt like an air bubble in my tummy that had to be moved out of the way before what I swallowed would have room. I never had problems swallowing pills before surgery...but after surgery it was real difficult to get them down. I'm two months post-op now and pills are no longer a problem. I still have some discomfort with some foods but it gets better every day. Watermelon has never been a problem. I eat anything I want now and I've only thrown up once. It's all trial and error. Best Wishes, Genz happygirl0925@... wrote: > In a message dated 8/3/2000 12:51:19 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > smootgen@... writes: > > > It is also one of the least painful foods > > to swallow at first.
