Me and KiKi have just been miserable these last two days. I was warned about

another die off that occurs at around this time. WE are not as sick as last

time (thank God), but pretty ickey....dizzy, nausea and just like before but not

as bad. She has been a whiney mess and if I was little....I would join her.

lol! I feel whiney and a mess too! Going to bed now...me and her...the rest

can party if they want to! lol!

Can someone with time tell us how many times this is going to happen this

year???

I can't find anything on it. But I know that Elaine gave time frames for when

these " set backs " occur in the first year. I personally don't look at it as a

" set back " , because it is a good sign that we are on track...the first die off

gave us the beginning of our miracle of getting our daughter back. The first

thing to vanish was the deliriums, night terrors, seizures and she began to talk

for the first time....so icky and all we wait for more improvements.

Thanks Antoinette. 2/06 and right on time for another predicted die off...how

did Elaine know this stuff?????

Hey Antoinette, we started the diet right about the same time as

you, and I think Tom's regressing right now. He's acting yeasty, has

lost a lot of skills (he used to be able to do 5yo puzzles and at

the moment he's just pushing the pieces around on the 3yo puzzles,

wetting his pants, and has forgotten how to dress and put on his

shoes). He's also had red cheeks and ears on and off for almost 2

weeks.

How long do these regressions last? Would the fact that he's on an

antifungal change if and when the regressions occur?

All our regressions were very textbook just like in Dr. Baker's book Autism:

Effective Biomedical Treatments. Since my ds, dd and I all started SCD on the

same day we would always get regressions similar to how we were before SCD...ds

hyperactive and obsessive, dd whiny and oppositional, me absolutely no energy.

Our bowels would regress to. Some regression have a tendency to last longer and

some are more bowel vs. behavior or more behavior vs. bowel. Right now we are at

the tale end of the 7 months one. Dr. Baker doesn't claim to know why these

regressions happen so regularly or give theories. This was simply the pattern

of what a group of mothers trying SCD under his care recorded.

For the 3 month regression on page 98 Judy Gorman (a woman who was part

of the group of moms and was a " central figure " ) states that " This regression

was both physical and behavioral and lasted up to 14 days for some of the

children. " He goes on to list things like poor eating, poor sleeping,

hyperactivity, poor focus...from what I see in my house it is typically an

increase of all you saw before SCD.

Oh and this should encourage new comers. Judy states, " It was only after

this regression that many of us started seeing noticeable improvements in our

children as a result of the diet. Yes, some patents saw good things almost from

the start, but the majority didn't until 60 to 90 days into the diet. " So for

all of you who aren't seeing much results for all your hard work...hang on.

Ds has been incredibly hyperactive and destructive since Monday and I

just want to tie him down...he his too dangerous to be around the way his flings

toys especially with his little sister around. So I can't wait for it to be

over and my daughter is just crying at every little thing and fighting me

constantly. But what a great reminder of where we have come from. I haven't

seen this difficult of behavior since the 5 months regression (which lasted 3

weeks UGH!) and it used to be part of our everyday! It is simply amazing!

Oh and we've been on antifungals most of the time and since seen

regression very clearly. Maybe antifungals lessen the experience, that's kind

of a scary thought. Can't imagine some we had being any worse, LOL!

Take care,
