Guest guest
Holly, I am three weeks post-op, and as time goes by, I am finding it much easier to eat or drink without it hurting when it goes down, however, I am having to be very careful about gulping my drinks, (especially cold ice water, which is mostly what I'm constantly drinking) as I have a tendency to still want to drink my liquids fast and eat big bites, however, when I do feel it going down, it feels like a balloon right past my throat that is already blowed up, and the bite that I'm feeling going down makes me feel like the balloon is getting bigger, about to pop. That is when I stop eating or drinking and sometimes, even lie down for a few minutes and wait for the liquids or food to digest before I continue to eat. I have found that if I ignore this signal by even taking one more sip or bite, I'll become very nauseated, which I hate more than pain itself. Even when I think I'm craving a certain food or feel really hungry, I have found that it only takes two or three small bites before I begin getting this signal, so after learning the side effects from not listening to my signals, I instead, eat much more frequently throughout the day, however, the portions of my food intake have dramatically decreased. By so doing this, I have still managed to take off over 25 pounds since my MGB on 7-15-00. I don't know how others are doing, concerning the signals they receive and the results of their weight loss, but this is working for me. Also, I continuously sip on cold ice water throughout the day. I feel like this is possibly washing some of my calories away because I have still managed to eat anything that I want during this entire time and still have effective weight loss.
