Dinah,

I stayed at the Hampton Inn, got there on Tuesday a.m., had clinic at 1 p.m.

Be prepared to make no plans for 3-4 hrs. as you will go through a lot of

procedures then all of you will meet in one room, about 30 patients, plus

their family members. Upon being weighed in, you will watch a video that

actually shows the whole procedure of dr R operating on this patient, then

you will listen to a couple of post-op patients with pictures and they

explain from beginning to end their experience, usually those at least one

year into post, then everyone ask them questions, upon Dr. R introducing

himself and going into more detail of his past surgeries performed explaing

in great detain the risks and the benefits. Upon his introduction,

everybody will introducebe asked to introduce themselves to everyone, then

one by one Dr. R takes each person into his office for final approval by him.

I drove up there in my own car, a total of 481 miles, and it took 6-7 hours,

leaving my house after midnight and driving up there the entire way while my

daughter slept. I staed in Durham from Tuesday through Saturday, had my

surgery on a Thursday at 3 p.m., and upon waking up, I was extremely

nauseated, and uncomfortable, but more nauseated than anything. I slept for

themost the entire time, rarely used the demerol pump, but did not get out of

bed to begin waliking until 3 a.m., mainly because I just slept through it

all. I was released on Friday about 3 p.m., and my daughter and I stayed

overnight to make certain of no complications. On Saturday morning, I felt

really good, no pain, have never even had the pain meds prescribed to me,

filled even as I am speaking now. The only problem initially the nausea, and

mainly that is directly related to the tolerance level of eating again.

Although I don;t experience nausea a whole bunch, I have notice that this

mainly happens when I eat too fast, and that takes a lot of effort on my part

to learn how to eat much slower and chew real good.

My daughter drove the entire way back homeexcept for maybe an hour, and I

felt good enough to drive the entire way, however, she was very protective of

me, and so I mainly napped in out out for thenext 6 hours home. I did seek

permission to go home early, howeverr Dr. R, doesn't like to see any of his

patients do this, as the first 3-4 days are very very sensitive and just to

be on the safe side, in case of leakage that you would definitely know from

pain you would be having in your stomach, Dr R stresses to stay until the

staples are removed.

I had already scheduled my doctore here to remove the staples on the

following Monday, just in case I did come home early, which he did do. He

was absolutely amazed at the results! None of my incsions ever hurt one bit

and have healed wonderfully!

Best Wishes,

Donna Cline from Anniston, AL
