Guest guest
Genz, That's amazing your BP was so low in a situation like that. Were you able to have books or music or was it just laying on a gurney waiting your turn? Do you wear glasses? Were you able to keep them until going into OR? Guest guest
Hi Bern, It's my understanding that you can bring your own headphones and music but I didn't. They really kept me pretty busy getting me ready for surgery and filling out the last little bit of paperwork. The time goes by quickly....Randy stayed with me in the ACU area until they wheeled me away. I do wear glasses but not all the time. I didn't even take them to the hospital with me. I don't see any reason why you couldn't keep them until they take you to the OR holding area. One thing you need to do is take a copy of your EKG and lab work with you to the hospital......even if you give a copy to Debbie or Barbara. I gave mine to Barbara at clinic and when they were going through my file at the hospital they couldn't locate them so they were going to have to do my EKG and bloodwork again. Luckily I had another copy in the car and Randy had to go to the car and get the copies. This kept the expense down and I didn't have to get stuck again for blood. I'm fairly sure the mix up happened when my surgery was moved up two days and Ann had to go find my chart at the office so I could have my surgery early. Sometimes things just happen so I like to be prepared and this time it paid off. My actual time on the gurney, that I can remember, wasn't long. I have mitral valve prolapse and they had to give me an antibiotic in my IV....I immediately began to itch and have an allergic reaction. They knocked me out shortly thereafter. I woke up in my room. It was the best surgical experience I have ever had. Everyone was so nice and compassionate. I had one nurse, I think her name was Alfea or something like that, anyway she is a beautiful black lady and the sweetest angel on this earth...... If I remember correctly she worked the night shift.....she kept commenting how beautiful all of Dr. R's patients are and how smart we are. And she said she would always remember me because of my name...Genzel rhymes with Denzel as in Denzel Washington. We laughed and I said if I had had another boy I could have named him Denzel Genzel.....She was truly the sweetest person. I was so knocked out from all the Benedryl they gave me for the allergic reactions that I really don't remember a whole lot. I know I was up and walking the halls by myself the morning after surgery and I was the last surgery of the day. You're going to be so happy to get your MGB.......just think of all the things you'll be able to do with your new 2000 model body. I'll meet you in Dallas and we can go shopping....or we can drive to Hillsboro and hit the outlet malls and go shopping.... or we can meet in Fort Worth and go shopping..........you get the picture....I want to go shopping! So hurry up and get your MGB!!! Love, Genz Bernardine wrote: > Genz, > That's amazing your BP was so low in a situation like that.
