Guest guest
Hi Everyone- I was wondering if anyone knows about plaintains. I would imagine that the rules are like for bananas - the green ones definitely not allowed...but what about very ripe plaintains? I've combed my BTVC book but can't find the answer. Thanks,
Guest guest
I don't know the difference between sweet vs. not sweet, but BTVC site says plantains have too much starch so they are illegal. Check out http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/legal/legal_illegal_o- s.htm Best to you. Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry I'm not much of a participant. But thought I'd comment about my experience with plantains. I love these and when first on the diet didn't touch them as it wasn't mentioned in the book. I later found a long time ago on the what used to be the SCD Digest that it was OK, but turth is it was never rather clear. I started making these, cuban style which I love - sliced deep fried, flatened and fried once again. With salt they don't last 2 minutes in my house! It's a luxury here in Spain (imported) and we only have them on very special occassions. I eat the equivilence of a whole one all by myself! Recently I just looked at the listing again on food the the SCD Site which is now more organized as when I had originally started out, and it clearly says NO. I hate to give these up. My experience was that they had never hurt me. Of course they never were part of my daily diet because mainly because they are quite expensive. So if they are considered ILLEGAL, ah - what a dillema......do I now have to eliminate them? Anyone else with any similar experience to this food or other?
