Guest guest
Cathy, Roasted chicken: 30 minutes at 425 then turn the oven down to 375 and cook for 45-60 minutes more. My chicken comes out perfect every time. If the meat is falling off the bones then it is over done and will be dry. It should look golden brown and still intact. Prick a fork into the the thick part of the thigh and if the juices run clear it is done. Charlene ! I roasted a chicken, using a roasting pan in the oven, for the first time. I found directions on-line that said 325 oven for 45 min. to one hour cook time. It wasn't done! Question: What is the oven setting and cook time for a simple roasted chicken? TIA to anyone who can help me. Thanks, Cathy (who can never seem to get recipes to come out right) For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com
Guest guest
Hi Cathy; I purchased a meat thermometer (no mercury, of course) that tells you when the meat is done . I have little experience cooking meat (former vegetarian) so the thermometer has been a life saver. Has settings for pork, beef and poultry. Hope this helps, Kim :-)
Guest guest
Dear Cathy: Do not worry. If its not done, just put it back in the oven and check every 15 minutes. Cut the chicken to check if done. An easier way is to get a meat thermoneter. It has the right internal temperature for cooked chicken right on the thermoneter. Another way to see if done, is if you can take the leg off easily. When I cook a whole chicken depending on the size, I put it in at 325 for a least and hour and half. Some cook books say 20 minutes a pound at 325. I really like the thermoneter, it takes the guessing out. I've been cooking alot since I was a young teenager, almost 30 years and I still mess up. Kids will do that to you with some many distactions. Keep cooking and Good Luck! Eileen Brown SCD 1 year 4 months UC [Norton AntiSpam] Quick cooking question/Help please!
