Guest guest
Eczema usually indicates an allergic reaction, most often a food allergy. There is probably something in the product your daughter is reacting to, which means you should switch to a product that does not have this reaction. You need to get the allergen out of her diet. Look up the ingredients to the product and see which one(s) are new to her diet (in enzymes it's often aspergillus, a yeast-based growth medium, or papain or bromelian, fruit-based enzymes). Then look for a different enzyme without those ingredients. Guest guest
Has she had eczema before (you mention a 'flare-up' as though it was present before)? When you start enzymes or probiotics, or even SCD yogurt, there can be assorted detox or die-off reactions...eczema being one of them. It should go away in a few days as the body processes gunk out. Just stay at the same dose of the enzymes for now (digest gold doesn't contain fruity-enzymes). If it does not go away by one week, then discontinue the enzymes and see if disappears. If you give anything to help with detoxification, go ahead and give that, or even a little more of that. Epsom salts baths and vitamin C seems to work pretty fast. . Guest guest
I think she had eczema on her diaper area before, but never anywhere else (she's had a variety of different diaper rashes for the past couple of months and I'm pretty sure one was eczema, but now with the rash on her cheeks I am sure that's what it is). It's been a little over a week and it is still there, but I will try some detox stuff and see if that helps. I'm really reluctant to give up the enzymes right now as the diet alone doesn't seem to be helping anything...and the eczema doesn't seem to bother her and isn't getting worse (I think it is fairly mild as eczema goes) so I am hoping healing is taking place and it will clear up soon. > > Has she had eczema before (you mention a 'flare-up' as though it was > present before)? Guest guest
We started with Houston Nut. Enzymes which exclude the fruit enzymes and are suited to especially sensitive people. We use the powders - they are AFP Peptizyde, No Fenol and Zyme Prime. Our son suffered from eczema in the past and he has had many different rashes from die-off reactions as his belly has healed. Some of these looked quite like his old eczema. We always have to think it could be allergy - it could be die-off. We keep a page a day diary and keep track of everything he eats and any changes in skin, tummy etc. Very best wishes Sandy > > > > I know there's some controversy about enzymes on this board, but for > > those who do take them...I've been doing the SCD for about 3 weeks > > trying to clear up some food intolerances in my 4 month old DD.
