Fermenting - Nourishing Traditions SCD

We are doing very well on an organic SCD diet and especially with SCD

legal yoghurt (cultured for min of 30 hours). Since the DAN

conference in Washington DC we have been making Sauerkraut

(fermenting cabbage as a natural source of good bacteria).

We learnt at the conference about the " Body Ecology Diet " which

emphasises fermented foods and had also read the " Gut and Psychology

Syndrome " book by Natasha McBride that also discusses the intestinal

benefits of fermented foods. We have since bought " Wild

Fermentation " and are very keen to include more of these (often very

old-fashioned) fermented foods in our SCD diet. Kefir is next! I'm

still not really sure how to do this but we plan to have a go.

I've been reading " Nourishing Traditions " and about Price and

Pottenger, basically about the foods that keep people healthy and

those that don't. (For example,

http://www.westonaprice.org/splash_2.htm) The recipes in " Nourishing

Traditions " look very interesting and I plan to use the SCD legal

ones (or change them a bit to make them SCD). I've recently

discovered the native nutrition yahoo group (which is the group

linked with these ideas about nutrition) and see some ASD parents are

posting.

Are there others fermenting with SCD? I would love to hear from

others doing this. I've not found any groups or links.

Many thanks,

Sandy

Mum to Eddie (2.5yrs early onset autism.) Family SCD about 7 months.
