When I have mine and lose my weight you bet I will tell everyone that asks what I did! If some people don't understand then maybe I can enlighten them...I guess I feel it is part of our job to educate people and spread the word about this wonderful tool. Telling people might just help someone else who is struggling with weight to. But I do understand those of you who are extremely private..my mom is like that..I just view it completely differently. Best of luck to you ...please keep in touch and let us know how you do after surgery. >> Hi, I think the decision to tell or not about this surgery is highly individual. I've decided to tell everyone because I'm absolutely terrible at keeping my own secrets, and I think that there may be other obese people who will be helped by knowing that this lifeline exists. I'm also proud of myself. Getting to my surgery date has been a real struggle, with all the scary questions, making the contacts, writing the letter to Dr. Rutledge, and (the hardest part for me) sending in that * & ^% & * Patient Information form. AND taking the pre-op meds. I decided a few days ago that anyone who puts me down about this - and there have been a couple of friends who have - is just ignorant. I've explained as best I could that this is, for me, like coronary bypass surgery for someone with heart disease. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. But I know it may cause me embarrassment down the road too, especially when curious acquaintances would like more details than I feel comfortable sharing, and I think I'll have to find a tactful way to say, " It's more detailed than I care to go into just now. " Again - it's so individual. Blair
