Hi !

You may already know this, but if you go to

http://www.clos.net/email_patients.htm

there are a lot of Dr. R's patients there, along with their email

addresses and the state they are from. All of them have said they are

willing to be contacts.

Kind regards,

Sorry, that's the best I know of as far as email. You can ask the

people you write to what city they are from.

Also, you might contact the local support group if you are in the

Raleigh area. There is a meeting on the 29th, with a get together

afterwards at 's house.

Trish Lanham said she would have her 1-800 number on and she's in town

right now, so she should know the details, ask for Trish

Lanman.

Hi ,

Many of the contacts on that page did not respond to me. Of the 26

requests I sent out from that web page, 13 of them did not respond. I

even sent a follow up e-mail encouraging them to respond even if they

had something negative to say. Still no response and it's been over 2

months since some requests.

I sent my list of respondees and non-respondees to Dr. Rutledge to

illustrate the non-response problem and suggested that he

periodically send out a group mailing to people whose names are on

the web page asking them to submit a request for removal if they

can't respond to the e-mails. I'm sure it could get overwhelming if

you post-ops get a lot of e-mails. I guess I just don't understand

why it would be so difficult to type up a " my story " like some have

done and just send it out when someone inquires. I would think it

should be time to give back. If I have the surgery done, I certainly

will respond.

But, on the other hand, the ones who did respond were so gracious and

encouraging. I've spoken to some on the phone and really enjoyed the

conversation in addition to getting the scoop on how their life is

after MGB (all said WONDERFUL, wouldn't change a thing, wish I'd done

it sooner, would do it again in a heartbeat!!!). It is so good to

know that I am not alone in the diet roller coaster history.

, just send out a LOT more than 10 requests. I put together a

boilerplate letter that I copied into each e-mail. The questions that

I could think of that I would like to know the answers to. Then they

can either respond to your questions specifically or send their

canned response. Many who send a canned response also volunteer to

answer any additional questions you have in a follow up e-mail.

I've also sensed the genuine feeling of caring and comraderie from

this group. Thanks everyone.

I hope my appeal goes through so I can have this surgery too.

Take care,

Kris Kuhl (Fredericksburg, VA)

Kris, you go, girl! I'm glad you found a solution to the patient

contact problem. As soon as Dr. R. gets that page updated, there will

be a lot more email addresses on it.

I hope your get your date soon and everything goes great for you!

Hugs!
