Guest guest
I was told once that some old guy named Shaw, ( Bernard?) said something to the affect that the worst mistake in communication is the illusion that it happened. After reading 's take on my post, and then re-reading my post, I can see why she said I was trying to make a different point than I thought I was. If that was what I was trying to make, she's right, I would be wrong. My reason for research and posting was simply because there was a question in my mind, and on this site, that had not yet been answered completely enough to satisfy me. Was bile something to worry about long term? Since Laurie's concerned father is involved in all this, he is " helping " by making sure we research it thoroughly and make the best decision. 2 years ago I would have had a different attitude about that, but now that I'm a Dad too, I respect that he is concerned for his daughter's best interest. I still want to learn more about the Vegas nerve too, prompted by his questions. I read in those pages I referred to that there is a controversy among Gut doctors in general over whether bile is something to be concerned about for ANYONE. Many think it isn't the problem in development of esophogitis. The ones that do think bile is a problem, say that HCl (Hydrochloric acid) and pepsin are the main problems, and bile can work in combination to cause damage. And it has to be bad reflux for a LONG period of time. I realize Dr R's reflux statistics are like ZERO. I have confidence that Zero after four years will probably not grow to much after 10. I think 12% of unaltered stomachs develop reflux, so you all are probably better off than I am from that perspective. It was my last serious concern, and it has been answered. Now it's time to take it to Aetna. I work for Honda, which is self insured. They even covered a tummy tuck for another person I know who had Baritric surgery last May. She had 18 pounds of skin removed. Sorry for the confusion, Thanks for the support, Dale
