Guest guest
Need some help figuring this one out, esp. you moms out there with the little babies on SCD. Although Mia's been " mostly " SCD for as long as her big brother (which I know is NOT SCD), her bowels have been pretty good. Since putting the rest of the family SCD about 2.5 weeks, she's had some pretty terrifying looking bm's. VERY mucousy, STINKY and green. SHe's also been crying and bending over, obviously in pain (she moans, " Oh no, poopy bum! " and then cries - so cute and sad!). The cramping has subsided, but the mucousy stools are still happening - but we're heading into week 2 of these horrible looking bm's. Is this okay? My husband keeps saying, " Give her some rice or bread! " (while he mutters something about freshly baked bread with a slab of butter for himself - sooo helpful!) THis is die-off, is it not? Any ideas??? Lynn - mommy to Cameron 3.9 (ASD)- day 66 SCD, and Mia (20 months)and DH - SCD just over 2 weeks

Hi Lynn, While I am just beginning SCD, we have been battling yeast for months and that sounds like die-off to me. We had this with our ASD son and my baby. Sometimes the BM's are stringy, sometimes mucous, sometimes black flecks or anything in between and the smell- hmmm somewhere between dog doo (if you have a dog you kwim) and somtimes fishy or even yeasty. We have also had BM's that look foamy for lack of a better term. The cramping has not been too bad here past the first few days. I do know the kids didn't eat well for a week or better in the worst of it. My kids would also get yeast rashes on their bottoms. I used to use topical anti-fungals for it, but recently discovered the joy of aloe vera gel. It REALLY cleared it up an dmade a difference and he didn't scream through the entire diaper change.
